IFRC Security Analyst Intern Jobs in Nairobi

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Learn about the security analysis function in a regional security team.
  • Assist in monitoring and analysing the security environment(s) across Africa region, and in issuing regular analytical reports.
  • Assist in identifying trends and issues in the security environment, which may impact the IFRC, and reporting on those.
  • Assist in monitoring threats and risks to IFRC operations/assets/personnel, and in providing regular threat/risk reports.
  • Assist in mapping (local and foreign) military engagement in disaster response and humanitarian aid in Africa region.
  • Assist in formulating and drafting a regional security strategy for 2018-2020.
  • Other task assigned by Regional Security Coordinator or his representative.


    Qualifications


    Education

  • Relevant police or military academy qualification (e.g. senior non-commissioned or officers’ course)
  • Relevant postgraduate social sciences qualification (e.g. political science, sociology, international relations, security management)

    Experience

  • Experience in political, security, or socio-economic analysis
  • Experience in humanitarian assistance, international development, or disaster response
  • Demonstrated understanding of key security risk management principles
  • Volunteering or working experience in a RC/RC National Society or another voluntary organisation

    Knowledge, skills and languages

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a database
  • Advanced computer and software user (MS
    Word, MS Excel, MS Access)
  • Sharing the RC/RC principles and values
  • Ability to work well in a multicultural and busy environment
  • Good communicator and presenter
