IDI Makerere Study Runner Jobs in Uganda

General Summary

The study runner will be required to transport samples from the respective hospitals to the designated laboratories. They will also be required to assist to courier and deliver documents or any other study related material to or from the IDI site. The individual should be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Transport or deliver study patients samples from the study sites; Mulago NRH,Kiruddu hospital and China-Uganda Friendship Hospital Naguru to the designated laboratories at IDI Mulago, Makerere College of Health Sciences and Victoria Hospital Ntinda.

Pick up patients results, completed patient forms and X-ray forms

Should ensure that the samples picked from the collection sites are recorded in the records book before being transported and the respective laboratories acknowledge receipt of the samples.

Should ensure that all samples are well packaged and delivered to the appropriate testing laboratory.

Provide assistance/directions to the study patients who need to go for investigations like x-ray services and GeneXpert testing within the hospitals.

Assist to deliver study documents for example consent forms, patient reimbursement forms.

Any other duties (within reason) that may be assigned by the Medical Officer or Principal Investigator.

Person Specification

Qualifications, skills and experience

Uganda Certificate of Education.

Experience in performing similar roles in a research study or clinical trial is an added advantage.

Speed and accuracy at performing tasks.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team.

Good communication skills.

Flexibility to work long hours, which may occasionally extend beyond normal working hours or weekends in order to complete critical tasks.
