ICS Project Officer – Early Childhood Care and Education Jobs in Kenya;Coordinate ICS SP’s early childhood care and education interventions in Machakos County, improving access, equity, and quality of services for children from conception to age 8.
Provide technical guidance, ensure quality and timely delivery against project goals, and collaborate closely with government actors, technical partners, research teams, and community leaders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management
Lead start‑up, implementation, and administration of ECCE project, ensuring delivery on time, scope, budget, and donor regulations
2. Technical Guidance
Provide technical support to ECCE interventions and contribute to new tools and resources
Build capacity of ICS SP team on ECD/ECCE programming
3. Project Accountability
Develop and present progress, process, and financial reports in line with organisational and donor requirements
4. Monitoring, Learning & Research
Work with MEAL team to implement effective M&E and learning framework
Identify opportunities to share and disseminate evaluation and research findings
5. Partnerships & Networking
Build and sustain relationships with government departments and technical partners
Engage coordination structures, committees, and networks to advance project goals
6. Influence & Representation
Represent ICS SP at government, donor, partner, and other relevant meetings/events
7. Human Resource Management
Support design of performance objectives for project field staff
Guide and support frontline staff; conduct performance appraisals in line with HRM policies
Requisite Requirements
5–7 years’ programming experience in early childhood development, education, maternal/child health, parenting,
or community education
Strong understanding of global evidence and best practice in ECD/ECCE (Nurturing Care Framework, Care for Child Development, integrated ECDE approaches)
Strong project management skills (planning, budgeting, donor reporting)
Experience operationalising ECCE, parenting, and child protection interventions within sub‑national government systems
Experience evaluating and disseminating ECCE project outcomes
Strong interpersonal, analytical, reporting, communication, and presentation skills
Proven ability to manage self and guide frontline workforce
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Gender, Public Health, or Early Childhood Development; Master’s degree an advantage
Sound understanding of Nurturing Care Framework and ECDE policy frameworks and models
