The International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) works ¡n the area of Sexual and Reproductive Health for General Population, Key Populations and Gender Based Violence and Human Rights Programs.

ICRH is seeking to fill the following position:

  • County Liaison / Business Development Officer

    Reporting to:

  • Director – Nairobi Office

    Job Summary:

    The purpose is to perform the role of liaison with the Counties for resource mobilization, portfolio diversification, PMA program ownership and promotion of data use at the County/partners level.

    By performing these roles, there will be growth and diversification of grant income for the organizations business research and program implementation.

    The incumbent will be responsible to expand and diversify the institutional donor portfolio as well as the corporate donor base.

    Over and above the primary role, above, he will work proactively with Senior management team and other staff to identify and win appropriate grant opportunities by ensuring the timely and quality delivery of successful grant proposals.

    S/he will participate in defining the organizations strategic goals, builds key Partner & Donor relationships, identify research opportunities, negotiates and closes research contracts/deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current donor funding opportunities.

    Key Responsibilities

    County Liaison – New Business Development

  • Engage and get buy-in from the counties PMA project is currently serving and also generate interest and funding from additional counties
  • Evaluate potential new research and development opportunities and identify new relevant partners
  • To evaluate and add new concepts to the organization research portfolio that are relevant to the overall goal of the organization
  • To manage research and benchmark strategy and present analysis to act accordingly
    Initiate and complete proposals and presentations for new research and development opportunities and send recommendations to the senior management team
  • Manage consultants and project deliverables related to business development projects
    Finalize new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations
  • Research and build excellent relationships with new/existing partners both locally & internationally
  • Engage in developing and pushing the organization strategy and setting up new performance indicators for the business development line.
  • Extensive travel nearly 50% of the time
    Partners Retention
  • Present new organization innovative ideas to partners and enhance existing relationships
  • Work closely with the organization senior management to meet partners needs
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external partner debriefs

    Research / Business Development Planning

  • Attending meetings and research and development seminars/conferences to acquire insights on the latest research news as well
  • Present to and consult with the pipeline committee on research trends with a view to developing research and development innovations and partnership
  • Identify funding opportunities from counties, development partners and private sector that will lead to increase in funding

  • Using the knowledge of the research trends and competitors, Identify and develop the organization unique research propositions and differentiators.

    Management & Research

  • Submit monthly progress reports to senior management team
  • Forecast research and development targets and ensure they are met by the pipeline committee
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet the targets
  • Work with the communication officer to ensure that the communication materials are update to increase organization visibility
  • Organize and present research development training and mentoring to other pipeline committee members and other project staff
  • Research and develop a thorough understating of the organizations people and capabilities
  • Ensure that he/she fully understands the organizations goals and purpose so that he/she can continue to enhance the organizations performance

    Communicating results

  • Collaborate with team members to write protocols, reports, abstracts and manuscripts and to communicate project results in meetings and conferences locally and internationally.
  • Show a high level of attention to detail during the compilation of communication materials to ensure accurate presentation of and reporting of results.
  • Communicate statistical information to non-statisticians both in written and spoken form.

    Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or project management
  • Bachelor degree in social sciences

    Experiences

  • Over 5 years experience in Business Development field
  • Working experience with Counties and development partners
  • Well maintained knowledge in research and donor funded industry
  • Experience in management of multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • Previous experience demonstrating capabilities of business development, by citing verifiable examples of previous work.
  • Development of organization strategy and implementation roadmap including development of vision, mission strategic priorities and balance scorecards that includes strategic objectives, initiatives and key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Exceptional skills to engage high level government/county officials and development partners
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Exceptional research, new business and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead business development initiatives as assigned or requested
  • Team oriented and able to perform tasks in a time efficient manner
  • Self motivated and able to work under high pressure
