ICIPE Junior Research Assistant Jobs in Kenya

Overall Purpose of the Job

The responsibility of these positions will be to assist in rearing fruit flies, parasitoids and to support bioassay activities in the laboratory.

Specific Duties

• Maintain vibrant colonies of fruit flies and parasitoids.

• Assist in conducting bioassays as and when required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• KCSE or its equivalent with basic skills to perform simple tasks.

• Expected to have basic knowledge and skills to perform simple tasks. Instructions on the job are
adequate to have someone get started.

• No prior experience is required.

• General appreciation of insect rearing adequate.

Other Desirable Attributes

• Implementation of all activities requires prior approval from the Supervisor. However, this must be accompanied by sound personal judgment and quick decision-making on aspects affecting work
quality or output.

• Does not supervise the work of others but may assist other employees in their work

Reporting

These positions report to the Postdoctoral Fellow, Plant Health Theme.
