The Centre’s research activities span the African continent with partnerships linking research organisations, not only across Africa, but also the globe. In addition, more than 100 graduate students and a number of postdoctoral fellows contribute to icipe’s research portfolio annually.

icipe seeks to recruit a Human Resources Assistant. The position is tenable in Nairobi at the icipe Duduville campus. The position is for an initial fixed-term of 2 years, renewable, based on performance and availability of funds. This is a nationally recruited position. The position is responsible for administrative and logistical support in the management of icipe recruitments
(managing the e-recruit portal, facilitating the 360-degree probation evaluations for professional staff and Level 5 support staff, and supporting the processing of contracts for visiting scientists, consultants and hosted institutions).

Specific Duties

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Unit’s recruitment function, and ensure all processes are well managed.
  • Manage the e-recruitment module of HRIS:
  • Posting all adverts into the job dashboard;
  • Screening
    and long-listing all applicants.
  • Contact applicants to facilitate attendance of interviews.
  • Organise interviews in liaison with the Associate Human Resources Manager.
  • Facilitate 360-degree evaluations of all professional staff and senior support staff.
  • Carry out the administration and scheduling of interviews, and the inviting of candidates for interviews.
  • Take minutes at interviews, circulate them and assist in all follow up actions, to ensure final closure of the respective recruitment.
  • Assist with processing of contracts for visiting scientists, consultants, and hosted institutions.

    Requirements/Qualifications

  • Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognised institution.
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in human resources management, with emphasis on the recruitment function.
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Good administration and computer skills.

    Reporting

    This position reports to the Associate Human Resources Manager.
