Job Title: Zonal Mentor / coordinator

Overall Job Objectives:

The Zonal Coordinator/Mentor will give mainly technical support to selected facilities on comprehensive HIV/AIDS services and coordinate all activities at ICAP supported selected public health facilities and agency for refugees and returnees affairs (ARRA) health facilities in Gambella region .

Major Duties and responsibilities:

Under the supervision of ICAP program manager, the Zonal Mentor/coordinator will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the zonal, woreda & town administration to establish ownership and sustainability of the HIV/AIDS program

  • Provide direct technical assistance to the target components of the health care network supported by ICAP Ethiopia.

  • Spent most of his working time at the facilities supported by the regional ICAP office

  • Provide direct technical assistance to supported health facilities. Such assistance might include training of staff, strengthening monitoring and evaluation and information system, facilitation of community linkages, patient flow analysis, improvement of adherence support system, development or improvement of referral system, etc.

  • Address clinical mentorship by means of:

  • One to one observation, and case based discussion with health care providers

  • Make him./ herself available all the time for telephone consultation by the facility health care providers

  • Strengthen risk based HIV testing services and other innovative HTS case identification activities
  • Ensure implementation of partner and family based index case testing at ART and PMTCT unit of supported health facilities

  • Ensure implementation of key population friendly clinics services for FSWs in selected health facilities

  • Ensure implementation of HIV self-testing and social network strategy in selected health facilities

  • Ensure implementation of pre exposure prophylaxis services for eligible high risk group FSWs and Discordant couples

  • Support the implementation of quality comprehensive HIV prevention, C&T service at all ICAP supported health facilities in Gambella region.

  • Provide technical assistance in the in the implementation of early ART initiation of all newly identified HIV positive clients
    at ICAP supported Public health facilities in Gambella region

  • Ensure provision of optimal ART drug for all clients on Follow up including DTG based drug initiation for new clients

  • Provide technical assistance in the implementation of DTG rollout and Pediatric ART optimization at all supported health facilities

  • Provide technical assistance to supported health facilities in the implementation mental health screening in ART unit

  • Strengthen the implementation and delivery of quality PMTCT service in Gambella region

  • Ensure implementation of quality TB/HIV service integration at ICAP supported Public health facilities in Gambella, counseling all TB patients for HIV testing, CPT provision for all TB/HIV co-infected patients, TB screening of ART patients and provision of TPT for all eligible clients

  • Provide technical support in the implementation of cervical cancer screening and management at selected ICAP supported Public health facilities in Gambella Region

  • Ensure provision of quality DSD-ASM services at ICAP supported Public health facilities in Gambella region

  • Make sure that Family Focused approach is addressed in the comprehensive HIV/AIDS service in the facility

  • Engage in implementation of SIMS and other Quality Improvement mechanisms and initiatives and develop PIP on identified gaps

  • Participate in the annual planning and review meeting and catchment area meeting

  • In collaboration with the facility management, establish facility MDAT and PMT and ensure their functionality

  • Compiles and submit monthly , Quarterly, Semiannual and annual activity report

  • To carry out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience Required

  • MD or HO; an additional degree in public health is an asset

  • 2-3 years’ work experience working on HIV/AIDS care and treatment

  • Experience as Clinical Mentor is highly preferred.

  • Ability to establish and maintain teamwork

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • Knowledge of local language is an asset
