Job Description

  • We help train and empower local eye doctors, nurses and health workers to create a sustainable system of care in the communities that need it most.

  • In Ethiopia, FHF has been supporting the government to eliminate trachoma in the Oromia Region. Our Country Office is based in Addis Ababa, with four operational hubs covering activities in 18 zones in the Oromia region with a work force of more than 80 people in programme, technical, administrative, finance, procurement, logistical, and HR functions.
  • Reporting directly to the Country Director, the Senior Manager Finance & Operations will oversee Finance, Procurement and Logistics and general Administration accountabilities for our Rwanda and Burundi Country office.
  • This is a senior leadership role and while we need someone who has strong financial acumen and operational experience you also need to have personal motivation to drive strong Procurement and Logistics, Security, Risk Management, oversee general office management and Policy and Process.
  • You will lead a team of finance, administration and logistics professionals to effectively manage resources and systems for our Ethiopia program. You and the team will also have strong internal and external partner relationships to be effective. While you will need to understand the workings across a multi-team environment you have team members to do the doing, so you need to be a strong leader who can coach, lead and drive action.

    Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. A Master’s degree is
    preferred.
  • Chartered Public Accountant.
  • Minimum of 8 years leadership experience in an INGO environment.
  • 5 years of experience in managing finances in a senior position.
  • At least 3 years managing operations( human resources, supply chain, administration)
  • Grant management and donor funded reporting experience with experience in partner capacity assessments and accompanying organisational strengthening.
  • Ability to lead a team in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Good knowledge of procurement processes and internal control systems.
  • Sound knowledge of current legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to INGOs in Ethiopia (INGO registration and compliance, tax, employment, finance).
  • Solid knowledge of full-cycle accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash-flow monitoring and internal accounting controls.
  • Ability to lead a team in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must have good working knowledge of computerized accounting software, preferably Sun Systems and literacy in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience dealing with an English speaking head office and matrix reporting environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills , with strong English
