Job Summary

Under the guidance of Regional Program support and Capacity Building Director the adolescent and youth peer support program advisor supports the design of adolescent and youth peer program at FMoH and AACAHB (Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau) and support implementation of the program in selected health facilities in Addis Ababa.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

As advisor of the adolescent and youth peer support program of ICAP - CU in Ethiopia, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to the FMOH and AACAHB in development/customization of adolescent and youth peer support job aids, working formats, client education material and monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Participate at the national and AACAHB Adolescent peer program TWG meetings
  • Support FMOH the initiation and scale-up of adolescent DSD model
  • Provide technical support to AACAHB in the planning and coordination of adolescent DSD model
  • In collaboration with AACAHB, organize and provide adolescent DSD model training for RHB, sub cities and facility staff
  • Ensure the provision of quality ART services with due attention for retesting, rapid ART initiation and provision of optimal ARV in selected sites for adolescent and Youth age group
  • Support the provision of quality adherence assessment and counseling services to improve retention of adolescents and Youth in selected facilities
  • Ensure
    SRH screening is conducted for eligible Adolescents with provision of appropriate measures

  • Support provision of age appropriate disclosure service at selected sites in AA
  • Ensure all eligible adolescent and youth have documented recent viral load test result attached to their folder
  • Ensure clients with high viral load managed according to the national guideline with rapid EAC initiation
  • Support the transition of adolescents to adult clinics
  • Ensure the establishment and functionality of facility -community adolescents and Youth referral system
  • Conduct regular mentorship to ensure quality service provision for Adolescent and youth
  • Regularly conduct SIMS assessments analyze the findings, identify gap and develop PIP & follow-up of the improvement plan
  • Support the proper documentation and reporting of adolescent and youth peer support program and pediatrics disclosure
  • Participate in the FMOH and AACAHB joint supportive supervision and review meeting for adolescent DSD.

    Job Requirements

    Required qualifications and experience:
  • BSC Degree in Nursing or Public Health with Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, infectious disease or equivalent education status and 5 years of related experience

  • Experience in HIV program technical coordination

  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, organizing and conducting training.

  • Experience in development of national documents related to HIV/AIDS Programs

  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

  • Computer skills (MS Office and statistical packages)
