Humanity & Inclusion Unlocking Opportunities Project Compliance Officer Jobs in Kenya;Ensure preventive procedures are implemented to avoid risks linked to non‑compliance with HI’s internal rules, national regulations, and contractual commitments. Provide second‑level control across all activities and sites, promoting compliance with institutional policies, directives, procedures and donor requirements.

Responsibilities

Operational Implementation of Compliance

  • Contribute to programme risk mapping.

  • Verify compliance with HI rules, national regulations and donor obligations.

  • Ensure staff are familiar with standards and tools for proper management.

  • Advise staff on internal control and compliance systems.

  • Monitor programme documents and maintain permanent files.

    Second Level Control

  • Carry out checks on compliance with rules, regulations and contracts.

  • Verify programme administrative obligations.

  • Ensure donor communication and reporting obligations are met.

    Fraud Prevention

  • Contribute to fraud prevention through training, awareness and controls.

  • Receive and report fraud cases confidentially.

  • Support action plans to prevent recurrence.

  • Assist with internal investigations when requested.

    Development of Compliance Function

  • Contribute to global development of compliance practices.

  • Participate in meetings
    and share best practices.

    Profile

    Education & Experience

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration or related field.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as Compliance Officer, Auditor or similar role, preferably in NGO/INGO.

  • Professional certification in compliance, risk management or auditing an advantage.

    Skills

  • Risk management, internal control, compliance monitoring.

  • Audit coordination and donor compliance.

  • Fraud prevention and detection.

  • Knowledge of Kenyan regulations and legal frameworks.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and advisory skills.

  • Excellent communication in English and Kiswahili.

  • Ability to manage stress, collaborate globally and motivate teams.

  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly.

    Preferred

  • Private sector experience.

  • PMP certification desirable.
