Our client who is a 40 years old private limited company and a dealer in laboratory & educational equipment, drawing & drafting equipment, medical equipment as well as office apparatus seeks to fill the following position;

Human Resource Officer (1)

Job Summary

  • To ensure that the company employs strategies that enables the organization to engage and retains the right balance of workforce in terms of skills, competencies and experience and, that training & development opportunities geared towards enhancement of organizational objectives & goals are availed to all the staff.

    Job Duties and Tasks for “Human Resource Officer”

    Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following;

  • Work closely with all the departmental/sectional heads and assist them in understanding and implementing company policies and procedures
  • Liaising with Chief Officers and Chief Executive Officer in Developing & implementing policies in key organizational areas such as; staff performance, health & Safety, working conditions, equal opportunity, disciplinary procedures, attendance & absence etc
  • Advising the management on pay and remuneration issues, promotion, benefits etc
  • Administering and maintaining employees’ records
  • Interpreting and advising management on labour laws
  • In liaison with the Chief Officers and Departmental/Sectional heads, deal with staff grievances and discipline
  • Develop Human Resources planning strategies putting in consideration short and long term requirements
  • Planning and sometimes delivering training such as induction of new staff, health & Safety, First Aid, Fire marshal, customer care etc
  • Maintaining staff leave records and leave roster in liaison with Departmental/Sectional heads
  • In liaison with the Chief Officers ensure registration and renewal of all necessary Human Resource related licenses
  • Any other duty as shall be assigned to you by the management

  • Social perceptiveness skill – Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do
  • Writing skill – Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for needs of audience
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Function – well versed in payroll administration, recruitment & selection procedure, training & development etc
  • Understanding of labour laws – Thorough in knowledge and interpretation of employment legislation
  • Business etiquette – Outstanding organizational management, strong ethics and reliability abilities
  • Communication – Excellent communication and inter personal skills
  • Problem solving – Aptitude in problem solving and decision making

    Education & Experience

  • Holder of a Degree in Human Resources/Personnel Management
  • At least 4 years experience in Human Resource Management in a busy office
  • Active member of IHRM

    Knowledge

  • Customer and personal service – knowledge of principles and process for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Clerical Knowledge – Knowledge of administration and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminologies
  • Administration & Management – Principles involved in strategic planning, resources allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of Labour Laws – Knowledge of labour laws, legal codes court procedures, government regulations, executive orders, agency and democratic political procedures
