Closing date: 12 Jul 2019

Role Profile

Hope for Justice is a global charity founded in 2008, working across four continents and eight countries to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society.

We are currently seeking an exceptional person to lead our work in Ethiopia, including a team of more than 150 people based at multiple sites around the country.

What you will be doing

This leadership role requires somebody with the high-level skills necessary to oversee and run our life-changing programmatic work in Ethiopia, impacting the lives of tens of thousands of children, young people and families.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working in international development or child-focused programmes, and as such will understand and prioritise child safeguarding and the needs of the children we serve at our facilities and in our outreach work.

The role also requires engagement at the highest levels with government and law enforcement officials, other international NGOs and donor organisations, ensuring that Hope for Justice is always represented in a way that is true to our vision, mission and values.

The holder of this role is responsible for in-country fundraising, as well as strategic planning, business planning, designated proposal writing and budgeting in support of the programme operations, in coordination with our UK Head Office and International Executive team.

The Country Director for Ethiopia, supported by the Programme Director, oversees the recruitment, training and development of our in-country professional staff (social workers, teachers, nurses, finance specialists, monitoring and evaluation teams and our senior managers) and support staff (cooks, cleaners, drivers, guards, wardens and house mothers). They will also be responsible for our financial, administrative and monitoring and evaluation activities in Ethiopia, to ensure projects meet targets and outcomes within budget, and that reports are delivered on time.

Alongside this, you will be a key member of the SMT and be able to input into the strategic direction and plans of the organisation.

This is a critical role for Hope for Justice – we are looking for a candidate able to make a game-changing impact in the fight against modern slavery and in keeping children safe from exploitation and abuse.
