Homa Bay County Secretary to the County Assembly Service Board Jobs in Kenya

The Homabay County Assembly Service Board was established pursuant to Section 12
of the County Government Act, 2012 and the County Assembly Services Act, 2017.

Job specification

• LLB Degree from a university recognized in Kenya

• Must be an Advocate of the High court of Kenya with a current Practicing Certificate

• Must be biased on litigation.

• Must have hands on experience in interpretation & application of legal texts, statutes, rules & Regulations

• Ability to negotiate consensus amongst diverse groups and impact the activities of
others not in own reporting structure.

• Conceptual analytical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear concise and tactful communication with senior management, clients, peers and team members.

• Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.

Job Description

• Drafting and reviewing of litigation documents including pleadings, notices, affidavits & correspondence;

• Furnishing legal opinions and advice on any areas of the law arising in civil & commercial
litigation

• Consultations with clients and Counsel

• Attending Court matters

• Conducting negotiations with a view

to settling potentially litigious matters

• Conducting the administration of an attorney’s practice, including file management and electronic time-keeping

• Draw up contracts and other legal documents ensuring attention to detail

• To be able to demonstrate that they are technically very able across a sufficiently wide area, able to work without significant supervision and have developed a strength and
reputation in their work area.

• To provide a high-quality legal service to the Clerk, Speaker and the County Assembly
Service Board.

• Research on diverse range of assigned issues, documents and case history to ensure accuracy of advice and procedures

• Receive requests for legal advice at the Assembly
