HIJRA Legal Officer Jobs Vacancies in Uganda

Job Summary:

The Legal Officer will identify legal needs in the field and provide counselling and representation in relevant administrative bodies. The Legal Officer will work with community leaders to support advocacy
at the community level and engage in mediation and negotiation as needed.

Responsibilities

  • The protection of populations of concern is met through the application of International and National Law, relevant UN/UNHCR protection standards and IASC principles.
  • The protection strategy incorporates a thorough age, gender and diversity (AGD) analysis and reflects the Organization’s global, regional and country level priorities.
  • The participation of persons of concern is assured through continuous assessment and
    evaluation using participatory, rights and community based approaches.
  • Protection incidents are immediately identified and addressed.
  • Analytical reports of protection trends and issues are produced on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment.
  • Promote International and National Law and applicable UN/UNHCR and IASC policy,
    standards and codes of conduct.
  • Foster their consistent and coherent interpretation and application through mainstreaming in all sectors and /or in clusters in applicable operations.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of protection related activities and partners in particular within the newly established protection response framework.
  • Compile data from the field and partners in a systematic manner.

    Qualifications

  • Law degree/ human rights or a comparable discipline
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the same field of development and humanitarian work
    and NGOs’
  • Ability to produce high-quality legal documentation
  • Ability to present and defend cases in a court of law
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to interact with a number of different partners and contacts, including governmental authorities, UNHCR, victims and their families etc.
  • Must possess communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong judgments skills are also a necessity
  • Someone who can make ethical and moral decisions
  • Sociable and open minded
  • A person who can keep confidential information
  • Must have a solid knowledge of the local law and be able to grasp new concepts with ease
    and accuracy

    HIJRA Procurement and Logistics Officer Jobs Vacancies in Uganda

    Job Summary:

    The Procurement and Logistics Officer responsibilities will include but not limited to source data recording, analysis, and interpretations and facilitation of procurement processes. Also actively maintain the inventory and Assets register and ensure safe custody of the financial documents for easy reference and donor reporting.

    Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all the money received is accurately recorded in the source document and posted in the financial management system.
  • Prepare the documents required for the payment of the supplies up to LPO stage and ensure that all the required attachments are in place before sending for further processing within the SERENIC system
  • Accurately and timely prepare the payment vouchers and attach the necessary documents
    before submitting them to the Senior Finance Officer for review and posting to general ledger.
  • Maintain stationary supply records and as well as other inventory supply and coordinate
    deliveries
  • Participate in the procurement process by sourcing for quotations from the
    vendors and
    forwarding the same to the procurement committee for review and decision making
  • Generate the Local Purchase Order using the financial System and deliver the same to the
    supplier upon authorization
  • Update the automated Items records and Fixed Assets records on weekly and monthly basis respectively.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system and retrieve documents from filing system when required
  • Photocopy all the weekly transactions to ensure a safe copy of the document is available for the Donor verification and Audit

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Two years’ experience in a busy Finance and administration environment
  • Diploma in procurement studies or wide experience in that function
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, in English
  • Ability to plan ahead and meet with deadlines
  • High levels of confidentiality

    HIJRA Project Manager Jobs Vacancies in Uganda

    Job Summary:

    The job holder is responsible for supervising and managing the overall implementation of HIJRA/UNHCR field activities in the area of operation through the field activities sector heads in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in the sectors of Protection, Operations & Administration support
    through Logistics, Human Resources, Finance and Administration.

    Responsibilities

  • Manage the assigned project(s) to meet the project objectives within budget and allotted time frame.
  • Provide strong leadership of the assigned project(s), working to ensure both short / long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities (where applicable) and local staff.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure awareness of project objectives, and opportunity for feedback.
  • Provide staff coaching and technical supervision to develop ownership / responsibility for activities.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication
    structures with the assigned HIJRA team, Country Program Manager and other relevant
    stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, UN agencies and other NGOs), with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and
    partnerships.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and other working groups or meetings as required,
    representing HIJRA and provide feedback to the staff and field on relevant issues.
  • Ensuring periodic field reports are produced, edited and sent to partners as may be agreed upon.

    Qualifications

  • A Degree in Social Works and Social Administration, Public Administration or Economics or equivalent.
  • Project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training
    skills) in development programs
  • At least 4 years previous work experience in a similar position and humanitarian work and
    NGOs
  • Proven capabilities in leadership and management required
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken English
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, and flexibility in cultural and organizational terms
  • Ability to work well and under pressure
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to interact with a number of different partners and contacts, including governmental authorities, UNHCR, people of concern, etc
