HelpAge Africa Conference & Regional Platform Coordinator Jobs in Ethiopia;HelpAge International works with a global network of 200 organisations across 99 countries to promote the rights of older people. The Coordinator role provides dedicated capacity for co‑creation and delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference and coordination support to the Africa Coordination Mechanism.

Key Responsibilities

Africa Ageing Conference

  • Lead day‑to‑day coordination and delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference.

  • Coordinate implementation of workplan, milestones and delivery schedule.

  • Support governance, planning groups and technical workstreams.

  • Monitor progress, risks, issues and resources; escalate as required.

  • Coordinate partner engagement, meetings and consultations.

  • Support post‑Conference follow‑up and accountability.

    Africa Coordination Mechanism

  • Support operation and development of the Mechanism as a platform for collective leadership.

  • Coordinate meetings, consultations, learning exchanges and working sessions.

  • Facilitate engagement by network members, national/sub‑regional platforms and partners.

  • Ensure follow‑up on priorities, decisions and commitments.

    Knowledge Management & Reporting

  • Maintain systems for tracking decisions, actions, commitments and learning.

  • Coordinate reporting on progress against priorities and milestones.

  • Capture and synthesise emerging learning and good practice.

  • Support development of reports, briefings and partner communications.

    Competencies

  • Essential – Strong coordination, stakeholder management, information management and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple workstreams across time zones. Fluency in English.

  • Desirable – Knowledge of AU, RECs or UN structures; experience with African regional institutions; knowledge of ageing, demographic change, health, social protection, human rights, gender or inclusive development. French, Portuguese or Arabic language skills.
