Job SummaryWe are looking to hire a Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir) who will be responsible for all aspects of the development and delivery of applications.
Responsibilities
Support and maintain existing production code in the field and develop and deliver new enhancements and products to our client base.
Collaborate with product management, operations, quality, and front-end engineers to deliver the right solution.
Develop reliable, high-performance service applications using Elixir - Phoenix.
Provision, configure, and develop against remote infrastructure in AWS.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 5 years of programming experience with Elixir
Must have experience defining the scope and directing the work of mid-level - junior software engineers
Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with our API
Building reusable code and libraries for future use
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
Separation of centralized services into microservices
Experience with Git, Jenkins, Docker, Ansible/Chef/Puppet, or similar tools
Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software.
Experience with relational databases (PostGreSQL, MySQL) and key-value stores (Memcache, Redis)
Good oral and written communication skills Main Objective and Responsibility of the Position
Performing autonomously, specific complex/advanced installation, maintenance works and repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training), according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures.
General Accountabilities
Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
Qualified Electrician
Qualified Mechanic
Biomed Technician
Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
Keeping working area clean and tidy.
Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or
managing a small team of workers.
MSF Section / Context-Specific Accountabilities
Performing autonomously, all necessary installations, maintenance, and repairs (i.e. plumbing, electricity, carpentry, radios, computers, constructions) according to the supervisor’s instructions and executing any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. The position requires particular focus on electrical, ICT, and minor construction/rehabilitation.
Work in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers, if necessary or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary, and keeping the inventory updated.
Keeping the working area clean and tidy.

Requirements (Qualifications)
Education:
Essential diploma or recognized formal training in the assigned technical area
Experience:
Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area (minimum 2 years’ experience)
Essential at least two years previous working experience. Desirable in MSF or other NGOs
Languages:
Local language essential, mission language desirable.
