Delivering Equitable and Sustainable Increases in Family Planning in Kenya(DESIP )is a five-year DFID funded project through PS Kenya focusing on improved family planning (FP) and integrated sexual reproductive health (SRH) services in specific targeted counties in Kenya.

The main objective is to increase more equitable and sustainable access to modern contraceptives in Kenya, specifically for up to 322,000 additional users, with a particular focus on adolescents, people with disabilities and poor rural women in Kenya.

HealthRight International Kenya will work as a partner in the PSK-led consortium to implement this project in West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties

Key Responsibilities/ Duties/Tasks

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and the entire project team to Develop Family Planning Project plans and budget aligned to the Government health policies and Plans for scaling up family planning services.
  • Team lead the project’s community health components aimed at providing equitable and culturally effective access to health information, commodities and services to scale up Family planning goals.
  • Participate in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of capacity building programmes aimed at equipping and strengthening key stake holders with capacity to provide quality Family Planning services.
  • Work with communities to identify and reach adolescents, poorest women and Marginalized communities for inclusion in FP/RH services.
  • Monitor and Mentor youth Champions to support adolescents and youth to promote FP among peers.
  • Perform regular visits to the field site to supervise Community Based Distributors and offer mentorships sessions that are up to date, of good quality and in line with existing MOH guidelines.
  • Oversee the routine collection of the project’s community data, providing timely reviews and analysis, and using data to guide shifts in program activities.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and annual reports showing achievements against planned targets as well as providing justification for performance variances and areas of improvement
  • Facilitate Quarterly Data Quality Audits for the Project
  • Operationalize and manage assign project budgets and grants monitoring tools to ensure adequate controls for efficient funds utilizations in
    line with HealthRight Finance Policies.
  • Ensure high levels of integrity and accountability for all allocated financial and other resources in accordance with donor and HealthRight policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the budgets and workplans for the assigned portfolio are fully aligned at all times and managed in strict adherence to the requirements of the project donor.
  • Strengthen collaborative partnerships and networks with stakeholders, county government agencies and other players to ensure implementation of the project.
  • Represent HealthRight at meetings, conferences and workshops and other forums to promote and articulate issues related to Primary Health Care Programming.
  • Document success stories from the field and share with Senior Program Manager and Associate Programs Director.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent qualifications such as epidemiology, nursing or Environmental Health.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in planning, implementing and evaluating RMNCAH/FP Projects
  • Experience with m-health technology will be an added advantage

    Required Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills with good written English
  • Proven strong community research capability
  • Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving.
  • Ability to live and work in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and related MS Office applications
