About the organization:

Health Poverty Action (HPA)/Health Limited is an international nonprofit organization with a mission of supporting the poorest and most vulnerable people to achieve better health and wellbeing in their effort. Established in 1984, HPA currently operates in 13 countries including Ethiopia.

HPA has been operational in Ethiopia since 2006, primarily with semi-nomadic pastoralists, and has implemented various SRHR, MNCH, TB, NCDs and other community and women empowerment projects that support communities in SNNPR, Somali, Afar regions and health system strengthening of selected hospitals and health centers in Addis Ababa and 6 regional states (including Oromia, Amhara, Benshangul-Gumuz, SWE).

Position summary:

HPA wants to recruit a Project Management Support for its projects in Ethiopia. Under the direct line management of the Program Manager or designated staff in Addis, the Project Management Support is responsible for the overall support on project management of multiple projects as per the project documents including providing support to country office and field teams, conducting assessments, M&E visits, reports compilations, as well as liaising with the local governmental and non-governmental stakeholders of HPA as per the guidance of the line manager.

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support Project managers, Field Coordinators and Program Manager in drafting the monthly, quarterly, and annual implementation plan, in coordination with partners.

  • Act as a focal point to manage daily contact, provide technical inputs and support to local government partners (province, districts, communes/ wards, and schools) in implementation of activities to ensure activities are implemented in a high quality, effective, and timely manner.

  • Conduct regular monitoring trips to supervise partners and field staff to implement project activities.

  • Collect data from health facilities, communities, and districts to develop monitoring data of the project.

  • Provide inputs and assist project staff in the compilation of data and information for monthly, quarterly, six-month, and annual reports for the assigned project sites.

  • Report to the program manager and work with relevant teams to address arising issues at the field.

  • Maintain database, records for case studies, photos, and other data for project
    planning and documentation;

  • Coordinate all logistical issues for visits, project activities and other related tasks.

  • Work with Program staff to follow up monitoring and evaluation of projects.

  • Collect case stories and write up case studies for projects;

  • Other additional tasks as assigned by her/his supervisor.

    Duration: Duration of the contract initially will be for six months with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis depending on the availability of performance and funds

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Strong experience working in a field or hard to reach community in a Sexual and Reproductive health, Gender Based Violence, Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition related project context.

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in public health, MD/Nursing, social science, or equivalent is required for this role.

  • At least two years of experience related to program management in the above areas which must include at least one (1) year of work experience in emergency relief and humanitarian assistance of health and nutrition related projects is required.

  • NGO work experience in pastoral communities is an asset.

  • Understanding of the Ethiopian health and nutrition policy and strategies, as well as the sectoral plans including the health extension platform.

  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Good command in written and spoken English.

  • Good communication skills and Team player

  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.

  • Good command in local languages (i.e., Somali, and Afar are asset)
