HCS Affiliates Group Field Operations Engineer - Transmission/GSM - Western Region Jobs in Kenya



Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to equipment faults logged via the Trouble Ticket (TT) system in compliance with corrective maintenance KPIs.

  • Perform preventive routine maintenance to ensure consistent equipment and environment health checks.

  • Coordinate with Support and NMC teams to analyze fault incidents and ensure timely correction.

  • Propose improvement actions for network structure.

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs and prepare reports.

  • Jointly perform new site commissioning tests with vendors, accepting only links/sites that meet engineering standards.

  • Compile and submit maintenance reports; attend daily evaluation meetings.

  • Establish and document causes of link failures using RCA forms.

    Principal Outputs

  • Achievement of performance KPIs.

  • Ensure network availability of >99.60%.

  • Achieve 80% of TTs within SLA.

  • Maintain network quality with packet loss <0.05%.

  • Achieve 90% of planned work first time.

    Qualifications – Academic and Professional

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication.

  • Lean Six Sigma – Yellow Belt.

  • CCNA Certification.

  • Valid Driving License.

    Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in transmission network maintenance.

  • Radio rigging.

  • Knowledge of GSM 2G/3G/4G architecture.

  • Strong understanding of BSS/transmission technology.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

  • Customer focus, planning, organizing, troubleshooting.

  • Internal: Business Units (Enterprise, Mobile, Mass Market).

  • External: Customers, Contractors, other network operators.

  • Frequent communication for information sharing and problem solving.

    Major Challenges / Problem Solving

  • Optical fibre network damages due to road construction or vandalism.

  • Maintenance materials/spares/tools management.

  • Preventive maintenance planning and execution.

    Decisions / Recommendations

  • Make recommendations on recovery and utilization within the network.

  • Decisions on maintenance materials and preventive actions.

    Operating Environment

  • Remote locations, multiple interfaces across units.

  • Requires both micro and macro planning cycles.
