[Job Purpose

  • The project coordinator under the direct supervision of Urban Slum Upgrading (USU) Project Manager is responsible to coordinate the LG funded “Improving the life of Urban Slum Dwellers in Addis Ababa through housing and WASH interventions-The case of Gullele and Yeka sub-cities” project activities in Addis Ababa.

  • He/ She shall be responsible to prepare Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and ensure its execution as per the plan, available budget and report on all components of the project activities.

  • He/ She will ensure site and beneficiary selection for construction, non-construction and IGA components, coordinated with community and partner weredas as well as partner LG-KOICA Hope TVET colleges for execution of project activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and ensure the selection of sites and beneficiaries for different interventions following Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) guide

  • Prepare detail action plan for monthly execution and ensure implementation within the allocated budget.

  • Prepare monthly reports to donors as per the donor guideline and template within the agreed time frame

  • Closely track the project budget vs expenses on monthly basis for reporting input to donors and internal

  • Ensure all project activities are implemented timely as per the plan and with required standard quality.

  • Liaison with project team and the communication officer for documenting project materials such as stories and videos of beneficiaries

  • Assist the USU Project Manager in facilitating project startup/launching workshops with stakeholders and internally for HFHE staff, with stakeholder feedback sessions, evaluation preparations etc.

  • Work closely with project partners at the Weredas and LG-KOICA Hope TVET college

  • Prepare project progress update for virtual call updates with the donors periodically

  • Maintain all beneficiaries profile of the project with pictures of before and after

  • Ensuring projects adhere to the agreed framework and all documentation maintained appropriately for each project activity

  • Responsible for coordinating, planning, and monitoring
    of project activities, project schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.

  • Ensuring that any changes of the project plan, budget and activities are carefully analyzed and submitted to the USU Project Manager review and subsequent approvals.

  • Periodically assess project risks and provide mitigation strategies to the USU Project Manager

  • Ensure stakeholder relationship handled in a very careful manner towards the best interest of the project implementation.

  • Monitor project budget and track expenditures/transactions on monthly basis in coordination with Grant Officer.

  • Organizing, attending, and participating in stakeholder meetings and documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

    Job Requirements

  • Previous working experience of 5 years as project coordinator or manager

  • NGO experience is an asset

  • BA/MA in urban development and management, project management, economics, urban planning, or similar relevant field

  • In-depth knowledge of Project management and development procedures

  • Hands on experience in budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Outstanding communication, and interpersonal

  • Attention to details

  • Proactive problem solver

  • Skill in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and basic computer software
