Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) started operation in 1993 as a branch of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). HFHE has provided simple, affordable shelter for families in Ethiopia while also working to improve Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and empower Vulnerable Groups in the country.

Job Purpose:

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEA) Officer will be providing support in monitoring and evaluating of ongoing projects on Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia. S/he will play role in promoting of key learning’s for the improvement of projects and for wider learning of the organization.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Support HFHE in integrating MEAL across programs and projects.
  • Support MEAL specialist in MEAL Proposal development inputs such as needs assessments;
  • Log frames; MEAL narrative plan; budgeting for MEAL activities.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.
  • Support MEAL specialist to develop methodology, sampling and tools for outcome and process monitoring studies including FGD, KLLs etc.
  • Support results monitoring for grants.
  • Conduct baseline surveys, midterm and final evaluations. Responsible for field coordination of evaluation activities with consultants; beneficiaries, stakeholders
    for internal and externally led evaluations.
  • Conduct qualitative data collection and Analysis.
  • Conduct quantitative data collection and analysis using software such as SPSS.
  • Provide regular capacity development to staff on MEAL; including Donor Reporting Requirements
  • Support implementation of Accountability across the organization.
  • Receive process and respond to beneficiary feedback and complaints.

    Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop project monitoring plan (PMP) of the projects
  • Provide feedback to partners and program teams on projects’ performance based on monitoring data findings
  • Periodical field visit for projects based on the assignment from supervisor
  • Assist in designing, coordinating and conducting project evaluations
  • Developing quarterly, six-months and annual reports
  • Develop and share field visit reports with relevant HFHE.
  • Ability to document best practice and lesson learnt
  • Share learning from M&E process with the wider team
  • Support partners in improving learning and sharing mechanisms in their projects
  • Disseminate research and best practice in wider environment

    Terms of employment:

    One year with possibility of extension depending on performance

    Duty Station:

    Addis Ababa with frequent project visit outside of Addis Ababa

    Job Requirements

  • BA/BSc in Demography, Social sciences (Economics), Statistics or development study or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in related works.
  • Knowledge of STATA, SPSS software
  • Knowledge to participate in the preparation of new projects, annual plans and in the review of reports, proposals and MEAL handbook and guidelines.
  • Participatory research methods, participation action and learning
