Gusii Water and Sanitation Company Limited (GWASCO) was incorporated in 2006 to supply water and sanitation services to the larger Gusii (Kisii and Nyamira) area under a Service Provision Agreement (SPA) with the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board.

In view of this and as part of fulfilling our mandate, GWASCO is seeking to fill the following Management positions with customer service oriented, qualified and experienced individuals who seek to be part of a result oriented team.

Job Tittle:

  • Commercial Manager

    Reports to:
  • Managing Director

    Job purpose

    The Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial function and business development strategy of the Company.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processing new customers accounts, updating the customers register/accounts
  • Oversee performance management in the department
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the department
  • Prepare board management papers for approval
  • Ensure that all the data with regards to monthly meter readings and payments is entered and verified.
  • Ensuring timely billings of all services provided to customers
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Preparing accurate reports as required
  • Liaising with other sections in provision of quality service to customers
  • Attending promptly to complaints from customers
  • Identify training needs for the departmental staff
  • Develop department budget and work plan
  • Mentor and coach department staff
  • Identify procurement needs of the department
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation
  • Responsible for physical assets assigned by the company
  • Makes strategic, operational and financial decisions for the department
  • Plans the work of subordinates, monitors subordinates work performance. Appraises/ evaluates subordinates performance
  • Work closely with other department/sections in all areas
  • Performing related work as may be required.

    Job Specification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Strategic Management or any other Business-related field from a recognized institution
  • CPA (K), ACCA or relevant professional qualification
  • Member of a professional body in good standing
  • At least 7 years experience with a minimum of 3
    years in a managerial or supervisory position
  • Meets the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

    Term of Service
  • Three Years Contract

    Direct Reports
  • Commercial Officer, Customer Care Officer, Billing Clerk, Area Managers on Commercial Services matters

    Candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 including:
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
  • Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board;
  • Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority;
  • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
  • Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau.
