Green Way Farms PLC is currently seeking a professional, high-performing individual to serve as the company’s Refrigerator Mounted Truck driver.

This individual will have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of a young, environmentally and socially conscious, international agri-business in Ethiopia, one of Africa’s most promising economies.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience working in Ethiopia, and the ability to successfully deliver the responsibility assigned to the position.

Mission of Role

To ensure that GreenPath’s export product are transported from Packhouse to Cargo at the Addis Ababa airport on time, efficiently without damage and at a good temperature.

Responsibilities & Outcomes

In addition to other occasional responsibilities and special projects, the key activities and corresponding outcomes for this role include:

Outcome

Plan and Transport finished export products from company’s Packhouse to Loading ports

The truck is available on time for loading and Product delivered without damage at excellent temperature to the destination.

Inspect vehicles regularly, evaluate the condition of systems, equipment, accessories, and light and reports any mechanical problems of vehicle to supervisor for repair /parts replacement.

The truck delivered all export products to loading ports without any problem caused due to absence of checking and inspection.

Advising the SC Manager of pending inspections, insurance renewal or any defects or problems.

Inspections are planned and done on time. Full year Insurance coverage accomplished. Defects and Problems are identified on time and optional measures or repair done on time.

Regularly fill

and keep records of fuel consumption and other expenditure costs in a safe manner.

All financial documents are submitted to The Finance Team on time.

Maintain logbooks and fuel consumption records on a regular basis.

Fuel is always checked, and no problem caused due to shortage of fuel.

Related company resource servicing and routine checking

Other resources that can be managed and maintained by the driver are serviced on time.

Required Experiences/Skills

Minimum of 12th or 10+3 TVET Diploma in either of the following education: Auto mechanics, General mechanics,

Minimum 4th grade driving license

Minimum of seven years of experience in driving and at least three years in driving cold truck.

Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations.

Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair

Team spirit and problem solving abilities

Drivers must display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both themselves

Proficiency in written and spoken Amharic.

English knowledge is advantageous.

Reporting

The position reports to the Supply Chain Manager

Leave Requests

Given the very critical role of this position in the company’s export process, paid leave must be requested one month in advance and requires that a back-up driver is identified. In most scenarios, the paid leave of more than 3 days will be approved only between May and September.

Location

This position is based in Butajira and requires frequent driving between Addis Ababa and Butajira. As the company adds additional sites, the position will likely require driving in other parts of Ethiopia.
