Summary

  • To participate in the design, planning and optimization of VAS/Messaging and IN platforms and aid in a timely deployment of quality solutions, products and services in line with the business strategic objectives.

  • Manage and coordinate activities for support, design and implementation aspects of VAS/IN platform and services

    Description

    Key Accountabilities

  • Develop detailed technical guidelines, specifications and procedures for services projects implementation.

  • Assess network requirements for the introduction of planned new services platform.

  • Prepare the connectivity and Integration procedure and plan.

  • Developing Evaluation matrix for new platforms.

  • Study vendor upgrade procedures and benefits.

  • Manage upgrade projects and ensures full coordination with all involved department.

  • Develop UAT document for new products/Tariff/Service/Upgrade and Enhancement.

  • Messaging, VAS and IN Nodes optimization (by defining KPI’s and analyzing and take corrective actions).

  • Implementation of new product/Upgrade/service or enhancement.

  • Implementing corrective action came from utilization reports.

  • Assist in Trial testing release of new equipment.

  • Manage implementation of new node traffic distribution.

  • Configuring the system according to the technical procedures.

  • Analyze new technologies and current standard evolution to Assess their implications on the existing VAS and IN nodes architectures.

  • Deploy and integrate VAS products (SMSC, MMSC, Voicemail) into customer network environments.

  • Troubleshooting issues of VAS integration, interfacing with multi vendors such IN, Core Network, Billing and other third parties, encompassing: SS7 and IP provision

  • Study possible, supplementary and value-added service/ feature offerings, and recommend VAS products.

  • Monitor and respond promptly to any technical problem affecting the VAS node.

  • Customize and support standard online transaction processing (OLTP) applications that interface with the core GSM and data telecom Network nodes

  • Revising Roadmap of existing services/systems.

  • Benchmarking other vendors for the already existing services.

  • Ensure effective Auditing, Controlling and Policing of the GSM Networks to detect abuses and report misconduct and unfaithfulness.

  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to colleagues in specific data-related tasks where appropriate.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to new recruits and interns.

  • Provide expert analysis and sound interpretation of Data, and expert advice on the possibilities and limitations of the available data, personally guiding and influencing strategic decision-making forums.

  • Support institution-wide strategic projects through the gathering and presentation appropriate management information and KPIs.

  • Enable and promote a culture of evidence-based enquiry and business intelligence.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain Value-Added Services platforms to ensure very high levels of service delivery and availability.

  • Integrate new products and services and ensure high quality end to end services are delivered to customers.

  • Continue to expand the capacity of the system to keep up with rapid growth

  • Work closely with the VAS vendors to ensure fixes and releases are delivered in a low impact manner.

  • Report regularly on system and service performance against key quality and availability targets

  • Collaborate closely with other relevant teams to deliver change in a coordinated way, aligned with business objectives.

  • Report traffic volumes.

  • Produce
    relevant report for Incidences/Outages of HW/SW resources assigned.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine activities such as system backup, health check on regular basis.

  • Integrate various systems to extract data and reconcile data for accuracy and reporting.

  • Write scripts on different systems.

  • Run reports to extract data from different databases and sources.

  • Research and resolve Operator (Customer) disputes.

  • Prepare Billing reconciliations and identify root causes of discrepancies and resolve them.

  • Manage and assist day-to-day service delivery.

  • Responsible for accurate billing/charging of all customers and suppliers.

  • Contribute in the creation and improvements to procedures and routines.

  • Monitoring CDR files and reporting.

  • Monitor SMS & USSD traffic flow daily to ensure continuous service availability, in case of congestion & leakages like fraud, and as well as over utilization of memory space.

  • Ensure all data files (i.e. Logs, Messages, CDRs & STAT files) are generated on daily basis and ftp to mediation to be accessed by different departments/sections for Billing and Reconciliation purposes.

  • Provide Weekly and Monthly reports of Systems and Service Performances.

  • Configure, monitor & maintain SMS & USSD Application Service Providers as well as handling any related issues, complaints, problems and requests raised.

  • Provide support on SMS & USSD Subscriber related complaints, issues, requests, problems raised

  • Continue to develop technical and professional expertise on the diverse components of the overall solutions.

  • Follow up services trends. highlight opportunities for enhancement.

  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to colleagues in specific data-related tasks where appropriate.

  • On-time reporting to direct Line Manager.

  • Work on tasks assigned by Line Manager.

  • Bachelor Of Electrical Engineering

  • Bachelor Of Electronic Engineering

    More Details on Experience

  • 5 years’ Experience of supporting Value-Added Services platforms in an Operational environment

  • 3 years’ experience in VAS planning and operations

  • 3 years’ experience in Mobile GSM Network environment

  • 2 years’ experience in database administration

  • Experience working on VAS platform such as USSD, SMSC, CRBT, etc.

  • Experience working on, supporting and maintaining IN platforms and charging nodes

  • Competence with Oracle/ MySQL Database with vast skills in PL/SQL (Oracle) and Transact SQL (MSSQL)

  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems

  • Strong Unix/Linux Shell Scripting skills and proficiency in at least 1 programming language(C/C++, C Sharp, Java)

  • General IP networking knowledge

  • Familiarity with Database Reporting Tools and Data Analysis (ETL Process, Data warehouses, Data Aggregation)

  • Familiarity with SS7, GSM and UMTS networks
    WEB Technology background
