Government of Hungary Scholarships for Kenyan Students 2022/2023


The Government of Hungary has offered Two Hundred (200) scholarships to eligible Kenyans in undergraduate, One-Tier Masters (OTM), Masters and PhD studies. The areas of study are open but must be available in the Hungarian Universities (candidates are asked to visit the website: http://studyinhungary.hu/study-in-hungary/menu/find-a-study-programme/study-finder.html. and choose the available programmes and host institutions before applying.

NB: One-Tier Masters (OTM) covers both Bachelor and the Master levels. It is specific for General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Architecture, Law, Veterinary Surgery, Forestry
Engineering etc.

Government of Hungary Scholarships for Kenyan Students - Eligibility

A. Undergraduate

Applicants should:

  • Have Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain).
  • Not more than 23 years of age.
  • Grade “B” in core subjects in the preferred field of study.
  • Completed Secondary Education within the last three (3) years.
  • Have original KCSE certificate.

    B. Masters

    Applicants should:

  • Be serving the country in the public sector.
  • Completed at least two (2) years of continuous public service since their last degree
    studies.
  • Graduated with a relevant Bachelor’s degree of at least Upper Second Class Honors level.
  • Be below 35 years of age.

    PhD

    Applicants should:

  • Be serving the country in the public sector.
  • Completed at least two (2) years of continuous public service since their last degree
    studies.
  • Have a relevant Master’s Degree.
  • Are below forty-five (45) years of age.

    Government of Hungary Scholarships for Kenyan Students - How to Apply

  • All applicants must apply using the Ministry of Education preliminary application form which is obtainable from the Ministry of Education offices at Telposta Towers, 27th floor
  • Room 2702. The application form can also be downloaded from the Ministry’s
    website: www.education.go.ke
  • All applicants must also make an online application through the online application
    system of Tempus Public Foundation.
  • After registration, the applicants are able to access the application surface and upload the required documents.
  • Please note that no application will be accepted without the online submission.
  • A guide to the online
    submission is available on www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu website. The online
    application can be accessed on: apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu
  • Doctoral candidates are advised to visit website (http://www.doktori.hu) for further
    details before applying.
  • Candidates for postgraduate courses should submit their application forms through their
    Heads of Departments.
  • The Ministry’s preliminary completed application form and a copy of the online
    application form with certified photocopies of ID, academic/professional certificates,
    transcripts, Birth Certificate,
    other testimonials and a proposal/study plan in the area of study (for PhD study only ), should be sent to:
  • Director, University Education
  • Ministry of Education,
  • P. O. Box 9583 – 00200
  • Nairobi Or delivered to: Telposta Towers, 27th floor, Room 2702
  • Only shortlisted applicants (who shall be informed by email or phone call shall be invited for interview.
  • The preliminary and online application forms should reach the Ministry not later than the application deadline.
  • The Ministry of Education is the designated Agent for the Hungary Government
    scholarships.
  • It is mandatory for all interested applicants to go through the
    Ministry’s preliminary selection process.
  • Preference for nominations at postgraduate level will be given to teaching staff in
    our Public Universities and University Constituent Colleges.
  • Teaching staff in these
    institutions are highly encouraged to apply.
