Role Overview

The Finance and Administrative Specialist will support the finance team with overall financial management and administration for mothers2mothers’ (m2m) various work streams.

This includes supporting efficient resource deployment, program accounting, financial reporting systems, cost-share, and related reporting. The specialist will also support compliance with funder financial and accounting rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial accounting and management support to the Finance team

  • Assist in coordinating the accounting process related to Programme transactions

  • Support the management of accounting and financial internal control systems in order to provide appropriate level of security over the country’s resources and operations

  • Manage donor financial and compliance regulations, ensuring that expenses are incurred consistent with grant agreements

  • Assist in establishing a documentation and filing system for all financial documentation in accordance with legislative and funder requirements

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of physical assets and office, including vehicles, equipment, and furniture

  • Support the development of programme/project budgets and Proposal budgets

  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders

  • Carry out routine grants implementation financial verification and monitoring of resources to ensure efficient resource utilization and compliance with the donor rules and regulations

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct capacity building trainings to project staff and partner organizations

    Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field*

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in accounting, operations, and/or financial management, ideally for international development or public health programs*

  • Experience developing and/or managing budgets*

  • Experience with financial accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or other software*

  • Strong analytical thinker with sound business and technical acumen

  • Highly independent individual, results and solution oriented with ability to prioritise and produce high quality outputs consistently

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and team building experience.

  • Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field

  • Experience with donor financial reporting and compliance requirements

  • Experience conducting trainings on financial management
