Responsibilities

The Junior Advisor

  • Advises partnering private seed companies in the production of early generation seed,
    supports the project manager in overarching tasks such as preparation of steering meetings, results-based monitoring, knowledge management and communication

  • promotes and coordinates the use of digital tools for project implementation and communication.

    The Junior advisor performs the following tasks:

    Tasks

  • Implementation of project activities with private seed businesses

    The Junior Advisor

  • establishes a working relationship with the private seed companies supported by the project and familiarizes him-/herself with their business model and environment,
    manages the contributions of external exerts (e.g. breeding and business development consultants) to the private seed companies the project supports,

  • monitors progress in the support of private companies to increase their quality production of early generation seed,

  • plans and implements project activities in support of the private seed companies in collaboration with the manager of cooperation with EIAR.

    Support to Project Management

    The Junior Advisor

  • Assists with the preparation and documentation of steering meetings and workshops related to project coordination.

  • supports results-based monitoring (RBM) by assisting the development of a results-based monitoring system and coordinating updates of RBM instruments,

  • reports regularly on the status of project results.

    Digital Tools and Communication

    The Junior Advisor

  • Ensures the efficient and responsible use of digital tools (esp. MS Teams) for internal communication,

  • links up with the digital community within GIZ, participates in and contributes to the exchange on digitalization within GIZ,
    assists short-term experts in the area of communication and public relations
    maintains the project website and social media channels (tbd),

  • plans and coordinates regular contributions (at least monthly) for content of the project’s media in coordination with the project manager,
    promotes (and pilots) the use of digital tools in project
    implementation.

    General obligations

    The junior advisor / junior technical professional

  • Is familiar with GIZ planning, implementation and reporting procedures and their changes, carries out tasks for the project if requested by the project manager, even if these are not explicitly cited in the job description.

    Job Requirements

    Required Qualifications, Professional Experience and Additional Competencies

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, business management, communication or closely related fiel

    Professional Experience

  • At least one year of professional experience working in a private company in the area of business administration or marketing
    proven experience in public relations, including managing digital tools, website and social media content in a professional context
    previous work experience in German Development Cooperation is an asset.

    Other knowledge, Additional Competencies

  • Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills

  • Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies (specifically content management systems, such as WordPress) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office and MS Teams)
    excellent command of written and spoken English
