  • GIZ Coordination Office Juba is seeking for 1 qualified South Sudanese candidate to apply for the vacant position of: Vocational Training Expert in the water sector for the GIZ-Project: Resilient Basic Services (REBASE).

  • Component 2 of the REBASE project focuses on the development of capacities in the water sector. For this purpose, the project is closely cooperating with Don Bosco in Gumbo and supports the establishment of a vocational training center for plumbers and water technicians. Furthermore, the project is designed to strengthen water utilities on all levels by improving their capacities.

    The Vocational Training Expert shall

  • Liaise with all relevant actors in building capacities in the water sector

  • Under guidance of the Head of Component contribute to achieving the projects’ objectives

  • Facilitate cooperation with Don Bosco in Gumbo, as well as coordinate with internal and external partners in the domain of vocational training in the water sector;

    Shape project activities related to capacity development

  • Steer project activities in coordination with Head of Component;

  • Check the quality and delivery of external service providers;

  • Monitor cost of training measures;

  • Participate in project design activities and make recommendations on improvements.

    Support capacity development activities

  • Support the development and implementation of training curricula;

  • Support the organization and implementation of trainings and other capacity development activities

  • Assess the trainings and evaluate their impact;

  • Contribute to the project impact
    monitoring.

    Administration

  • Facilitate correspondence between the project and partner institutions;

  • Organize administrative and logistical aspects of the project activities (meetings, workshops etc.);

  • Manage confidential files, especially in the areas of personnel development of training participants.

    Other Duties

  • The Expert also fulfils other adequate tasks as determined and assigned by the Head of Component or the Head of Programme.

    Required qualifications, competences and experience

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor or similar qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent with solid didactic background.

    Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in the water sector;

  • at least 3 years working experience as a trainer and in development of training curricula;

  • at least 2 years professional experience in a comparable position.

    Language Skill

  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English languages is required

    Other knowledge, Additional Competences

  • good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)

  • confidential handling of data and information

  • very good knowledge of the English language

  • willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
