About Girl Effect Enterprise

Girl Effect is a global organization committed to to creating a ‘new normal’ with and for girls. We consider a ‘new normal’ as a world in which girls are able to stay in school, get access to health services, get married only and if they choose; where they are supported by, rather than dependent on, their families and communities.

Girl Effect operates in more than 60 countries around the world tackling negative social norms preventing girls from reaching their full potential through innovative research, interactive technology and integrated culture brands, harnessing the power of social and mass media. Further information on our global organisation can be found at www.girleffect.org

In Ethiopia, we have been active since 2011, and have created a branded multi-media platform called Yegna. The brand is designed to providing educational and entertaining content - through fictional, editorial and musical media and club formats focused on tackling the barriers affecting adolescent girls in Ethiopia.
