Job Description

A. Job Summary

Under the general guidance of the MD, the DMD R&C:

Reports to the MD. He is responsible to oversee the strategic and operational activities of the Real Estate , Construction and Construction Material production cluster in general and each business unit under the cluster in particular.

He is responsible to ensure that the business units are operating smoothly in integrated manner so that they accomplish the level of performance/target the shareholders and the corporate office expect of them.

He ensures that major case/problems referred to him from the general manager of the business units are solved on time.


Along with the other executive management members of the corporate office, acts as portfolio manager, synergy builder and facilitator, restructurer, parental developer of the portfolio in the cluster and the entire Gift Group portfolio.

The incumbent is responsible for expanding the cluster’s business in terms of both new and existing business units.

As member of the corporate top management of the Group, he actively involves on the Group’s policy and strategy formulation, revision, etc and operational guidance activities as may be warranted by the situation.

B. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • The DMD R&C cluster is vested with the following duties and responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, directs, staffs, coordinates and controls the overall functions of the R&C cluster at corporate level;
  • Supervise the work of the corporate personnel under his cluster;
  • Identify resource and other deficiencies and corporate support needs of the business units under his discretion;
  • Facilitate the prevalence of integration and synergy between the business units in the cluster and other parts of GBG for mutual benefit of the business units concerned and shareholders at large;
  • Monitor the need for restructuring and system change and take the initiative for implementation as appropriate;
  • In collaboration with resource Management and Support Service, s/he develops capacity building plan and ensures its implementation on priority basis within the cluster;
  • Develop corporate level strategic and operational plans for the Real Estate and Construction cluster and communicate same to the GMs of the business units in the cluster;
  • In collaboration with the other corporate organs concerned, support the business units in the cluster to build their capacity;
  • Delegate tasks to works units under his/her direct supervision, empowering the same with commensurate resources and authority;
  • Conduct planned and surprise visits to business units in the cluster for supervision, consultation, and support and guidance;
  • Play figurehead, liaison and leadership roles in the cluster;
  • Regularly communicate with GMs of the business units to get an update/progress of operational and strategic activities of business units;
  • Negotiate with business partners and other stakeholders, concludes contractual agreements and undertakes business dealings within his discretion;
  • Create enabling environment to generate and screen new business ideas, and commission feasibility studies for the selected business ideas as appropriate;
  • Oversee the management of new business and /or expansion projects in the cluster or related areas;
  • Receive monthly,
    quarterly and annual performance report from the business units in the cluster;
  • Regularly monitors and periodically evaluates the performance of the business units;
  • Issue policy, strategy and directives to business units within the mandate of the cluster in the corporate office;
  • Act as mentor, coach, problem solver of the managers under his direct supervision be it in the head office or business units;
  • Ensure business units are operating per the governing rules of the Group;
  • Give general guidance to business units in his cluster as a framework for preparation of enterprise plans and reviews and approves strategic and operational plans of business units against corporate directions and performance targets;
  • Review performance and activity reports and financial statements to evaluate progress and status in attaining cluster objectives and revises objective and plans, if need be, to align them with current environmental trends and conditions;
  • Present cluster reports at regular meeting of corporate top management;
  • Review and update the performance standards in order to reflect the impact of new technological developments, advanced techniques, or revised levels of service;
  • Determine the materials and human resource required to effectively execute all the business units and cluster tasks and achieve the objectives set,
  • Assign jobs to respective functional units together with the necessary delegation of commensurate authority and responsibilities;
  • Regularly evaluate the management capability and performance of the General Managers of the business units in the cluster.
  • Ensure commitment of business units to customers, government regulatory organs, banks, suppliers etc are being carried out on time by the business units in the cluster;
  • Represent the company in any bilateral, multilateral or other relationships with third parts in accordance with his delegation and company policy and procedures,
  • Fill periodic performance evaluation form of the GMs and other personnel reporting to him;
  • Produce regular and special reports about the cluster and submits the same to the MD, and
    Execute other activities as may be assigned to him by the MD;

    Job Requirements

    C. Minimum Requirement

    Qualification:

  • PhD/MSc in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from recognized University; a degree in management in addition to the above is a plus.

    Work Experience:

    10/15 Years , Age: 40-45

    Special Experience:

  • Proven experience as Deputy MD /General Manager/Project Manager in Construction Areas
    Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision;
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
  • Familiarity with diverse management functions such as marketing, operations operation, finance and HR;
  • In-depth and hands-on knowledge of corporate management best practices;
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills;
  • Able to report proven success stories
  • Self starter and team player with special talent to motivate his own team is an advantage;
