Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated administrator from 01 August 2023 or later until 30 June 2025 with an option of extension. The scope of employment will be 20 hours per week. The salary is based on the salary scale for local employees at the Goethe Institut Äthiopien and depends on the scope of employment (please enquire for specifics).

The Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) is an European Union fund, which aims to further boost national capacities and improve procedures for migration management, as well as to enhance solidarity and responsibility sharing between EU Member States.

This particular AMIF-project aims to prepare migrants to Germany before departure for their new lives in Germany. This pre-integration encompasses: preparations for the new everyday and work life in Germany, pre-mediating the migration experience with its anxieties and stresses, and support in obtaining visa relevant language certificates.

The Goethe-Institut is the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote cultural exchange, education, and social discourse in an international context and support the teaching and learning of the German language.

Tasks Will Encompass

  • Compliant expenditure of AMIF funds in Ethiopia,

  • Payments: Preparing and monitoring all AMIF payments,

  • Review of accounting documents,

  • Support bookkeeping,

  • Controlling of AMIF funds,

  • Reporting: especially on time interim and final reports,

  • Budget balancing and supporting annual financial statements and internal interim financial statements,

  • Filing of documents,

  • General administrative tasks.

  • All tasks will involve adherence and monitoring of adherence to
    internal regulations, AMIF regulations, Ethiopian laws, and German and European Union laws and regulations and German accounting practices according to “HGB”. The ERP system will be SAP.

    Job Requirements

  • Completed commercial training or undergraduate studies (e.g. administration,business etc.),
    Work permit for Ethiopia,

  • Good knowledge of MS-Office applications,

  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English and German (at least B1 level) and possibly the willingness to improve German,

  • Willingness to familiarise with complex German regulations available mostly in German only,

  • Professional experience in finance and accounting desirable,

  • Experience with foreign publicly funded organisations desirable,

  • Good SAP knowledge desirable or willingness to familiarise with SAP and German HGB accounting practices,

  • Very good work organisation and very good time management, high motivation,

  • Punctuality, friendly and professional attitude and intercultural competence,

  • Ability to work under pressure, reliability and loyalty, care and accuracy,

  • Dedicated and self-dependent work,

  • Very good communication and social skills, ability to work in a team.
