To Be Successful You'll Need:

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree (BA, BSc) – essential

  • MBA or Master’s in Development Studies or related field — is desirable.

  • At least 5 years’ experience of programme management in low- and middle-income countries.

  • Experience in leading and managing small teams.

  • Setting up new projects and programmes.

  • Experience working with senior officials in both the public and private sector — is desirable.

  • Understanding of and working with monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

  • Embody values and understand the future challenges and opportunities for youth empowerment and is passionate about creating an impact in Kenya’s employment ecosystem.

  • Charities/INGO experience — is desirable.

  • Using technology to address development challenges — is desirable.

    Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral/presentation skills.

  • Excellent written skills in English, especially report writing.

  • Strong teamwork orientation, with an ability to lead and work effectively with a range of partners and colleagues.

  • Strategic and innovative with the ability to sell the vision of Generation.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, MS project, etc.).

  • Delivering Results: Dynamic self-starter and able to work independently within a dynamic team.

  • Strategic Thinking and Planning: Experience in organisational strategic planning and programme design.

  • Collaborative: Able to work closely with geographically distributed team members.

  • Time Management: Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

    example, setting direction and supporting colleagues.
    Integrity: Demonstrate high levels of integrity and alignment with Generation vision, mission, and values.

    Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel frequently within Kenya, and potential occasional travel in the region and internationally.

    What You'll Do:

    Specifically, you will have responsibility for:

  • Overall responsibility for programme development, implementation, reporting and programme risk management.

  • Integrating and ongoing management of effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks into programme design.

  • Exploring innovative solutions and thinking creatively to identify solutions that will maximise our impact on the ground.

  • Ensuring programme coordination and coherence across GPK’s growing portfolio.

  • Publicly representing GPK to support the CEO and Head of Fundraising with communicating our work, results and advocating for our objectives.

  • Taking part as a member of the Senior Management Team with a reporting role at Board meetings.

  • Contributing to GPK’s strategic planning and organisational decisions.
