GEMS Africa Human Resources Officer Job in Kenya

GEMS Africa is seeking to appoint a Human Resources Officer to assist in the set-up of its first Mid-Market School in Kenya in 2019. Set out on a 5-acre plot on Kiambu Road, this institution will focus on academic rigour, paired with world-class facilities within a national context.



Building on the strong education legacy of our brand that is child centred, the school is at an advantage in launching the new competency-based curriculum as the teachers will be ably supported through our Teacher Training Institute.


We are looking for a HR Officer to provide the full-cycle Human Resources support to the School.


The role is critical in executing our HR initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.


A key focus of the role will be to set up and align/implement all HR related policies, processes, and standard operating procedures in the school.


The incumbent will also assist to support and implement the full spectrum of HR, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement and talent development initiatives.


Experience and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and/or Relevant HR Degree
  • 3 years in an Administration / HR Generalist role
  • Exposure to school systems, start set up is an added advantage.

  • Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback
    Service oriented
  • Looks for new/innovative ways to approach job requirements and adjusts rapidly to new situations, manages change effectively and successfully implements change initiatives
