Role Purpose
As the organization’s systems continue to grow, this role provides technical leadership, architectural direction and development standards to ensure scalable, secure and high-quality software solutions.
The role serves as the technical anchor of the development team, responsible for designing architecture, delivering complex features, maintaining quality standards and mentoring junior developers.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and Technical Design
Design system architecture and technical specifications based on business requirements.
Translate business needs into clear technical designs and implementation plans.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure architecture and design decisions are agreed upon before development begins.
Minimize major design changes after development has started.
Software Development and Delivery
Lead software development using Laravel, React, Next.js and C#.
Develop clean, efficient, secure and maintainable code.
Deliver complex features within agreed timelines while meeting performance and security requirements.
Support scalable and reliable application development.
Database and System Performance
Design, optimize and manage MySQL and MongoDB databases.
Design and implement APIs and system integrations.
Monitor database performance and resolve issues proactively.
Ensure systems deliver fast, reliable and scalable performance.
Quality Assurance and Security
Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards.
Define testing frameworks, development standards and quality controls.
Apply secure software development practices.
Reduce production defects and prevent security vulnerabilities through proactive quality management.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
Coach, mentor and support junior developers.
Review code and provide constructive technical guidance.
Build development capability and improve overall team performance.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Project Ownership and Stakeholder Management
Gather and analyze requirements with business stakeholders.
Estimate development effort and project timelines.
Track project progress and communicate updates regularly.
Identify and escalate risks early to support predictable delivery.
System Support and Continuous Improvement
Resolve complex and escalated technical issues.
Recommend better
development tools, frameworks and processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.
Enhance development efficiency and software quality.
Performance Expectations
First 30 Days
Learn existing systems and architecture.
Review the current codebase.
Document technical risks and identify quick-win improvements.
By Day 90
Deliver the first major feature from design through deployment.
Establish and align coding, review and testing standards with the development team.
By Month 6
Improve delivery predictability and reduce software defects.
Provide regular mentorship and code reviews to junior developers.
By Month 12
Deliver measurable improvements in system scalability and performance.
Demonstrate growth and capability improvement within the development team.
Actively influence and shape the organization's technical direction.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in software development.
Demonstrated experience designing, developing and supporting complex software solutions.
Strong leadership, mentoring and project ownership capabilities.
Experience with PHP Laravel, C#, React and Next.js frameworks.
Experience with MySQL, MongoDB and system integrations.
Candidates must have remained with at least one employer for a minimum of two (2) consecutive years, demonstrating stability and commitment in previous roles.
