Manager, Commercial Development (Africa)

For a candidate with suitable experience & expertise, this position may be offered at Senior Manager level

Location:Ideally based in Nairobi, Kenya

Reports to: Senior Director, Commercial Development

Key Interfaces: Market development partners of GALVmed, Portfolio Manager & other functional managers,
veterinary & broader livestock community, scientific & development community, regulatory authorities, donors.

Purpose: To be responsible for a specific range of GALVmed-funded Commercial Development initiatives in Africa with partner organisations to establish viable large-scale commercial distribution systems; to identify project partners as necessary and engage & support them to deliver the projects; to otherwise contribute and implement GALVmed’s
Commercial Development strategy

Key Activities

Building and maintaining an excellent relationship with the partners, acting as the primary interface (project meetings, field visits, day-to-day contact as necessary, etc.)

Project oversight – monitoring activity and results; assessing feedback from the partners; taking action as appropriate to optimize project outcomes; ensuring implementation of the partners’ contractual obligations;
managing GALVmed project budgets; reporting

Pro-active input into ongoing and new projects including the evaluation of opportunities and codevelopment of detailed business plans. Provide technical and marketing knowledge, ideas, contacts, innovation, access to GALVmed expertise, resources and network etc. to optimize outcomes

Providing input into GALVmed Commercial Development

strategy development and implementation through team meetings, specific assignments, day-to-day interactions etc.

Qualifications / Experience Reqiured

Degree in Life Sciences or other relevant subject

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in field of Animal Health or related life science industry

Business management knowledge including
financials / strategic thinking

Project management skills

Excellent verbal and written communication
(English), interpersonal and presentation skills

Ability and willingness to travel regularly
throughout Africa Cultural sensitivity

French an advantage

Experience in Animal Health in Africa or other developing markets
