Company Profile : Our client, a leading commercial bank operating in Uganda seeks to recruit competent banking professionals in managerial positions.
Job Description :
Main Purpose of the Job
The Assistant Senior Manager -Risk main role is to support the Head of Risk Management to enhance and integrate the function for Bank-wide Risk Management, to build capacity and the ability to identify, measure, monitor and control the underlying risks – mainly Strategic, Credit, Liquidity, Interest Rate, Price, Foreign Exchange Rate, Operational, Reputational and Regulatory – that the Group will continue to face.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish comprehensive Risk Management Programs and to embed sound risk management programme by putting in place an effective Country Risk Management framework through;
Active Senior Management oversight.
Adequate Policies Procedures and Limits
Adequate Risk Monitoring and Management
To establish a comprehensive and sound Risk Management culture
To participate in the formulation and review of of bank wide policies and procedures
To monitor the prevailing trend and quality of the credit portfolio through various management report such as Arrears and NPA Accounts Reports,
Monitoring of credit risk so as to ascertain the overall health of each asset and overall portfolio and confirm that exposures are in line with the bank’s policy guidelines so as to ensure the quality of the credit portfolio
Ensure that the process of disbursement and custody of security documentation is in line with Policies and procedures and compliant with the Credit disbursement checklist.
Identify Market risk factors (equity, interest rate, currency, and commodity) and develop approaches of strategies to address them.
Monitoring of the ALM risks and review of the Liquidity Ratio, Rate sensitivity gaps, currency-wise gap analysis, net margins, Value at Risk (VaR), trading activities and impact analysis in a worst case scenario to test the Bank’s resilience

Skill Set
Knowledge
University graduate with an honours Bachelor’s Degree in Business plus professional qualification in Risk Management or similar field would be desirable.
Possession of good analytical skills
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office application.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years banking experience, with at least 3 years at a managerial level
Demonstrated leadership skills with good command of oral and written knowledge of English.
Personal competencies
A structured approach to dealing with complex and variable work environments in an independent manner.
Ability to balance opposing business requirements.
Ability to balance long term and short term requirements independently
Strong evaluation, communication and reporting skills
Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support business decision making
Independent and logical thinker, yet an achiever and implementer
Leads by example
Good at managing large volumes of information and can add value through management reporting
