French Embassy Jobs in Nairobi - Kenya Trade Adviser Vacancies

  • Business France East Africa is the Trade and Investment Office of the Embassy of France in Kenya.

  • It provides assistance to French companies seeking to enter the East African market or to expand existing local sales.

  • Business France East Africa has a regional scope: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia.

  • Business France provides a wide range of customer-focused and counseling services to French and East Africans firms aimed at bringing French products to the local market or enhancing the performance of French companies already based in East Africa.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under direct supervision of the Managing Director, the Trade Adviser is responsible for:

  • Identifying opportunities for French companies in East Africa within her/his assigned industry-sectors;

  • Monitoring the assigned industry sectors and editing briefing papers;

  • Developing and maintaining a regional network of contacts with relevant organizations. She/He can use these contacts to identify trade opportunities and potential partners. She/He needs to build up relations with trade associations, exhibition organisers, public authorities and private sector;

  • Carrying out activities commissioned by French companies, which can include market research, identification of business partners, organization of events and visiting programs for single companies;

  • Planning and conducting various trade delegations;

  • Participating and representing the organisation in trade exhibitions, conferences, seminars, networking receptions…

  • Providing with regular information on activities, through filling, updating, data recording on the different tools and applications
    used by the organisation;

  • Meeting targets set by Business France’s headquarters and Business France East Africa.

    Key Skills and Competences Required

  • Higher education degree in business and/or marketing with international outlook;

  • Good knowledge of industry and business issues in both East Africa and France;

  • Fluency in English and French (both written and oral);

  • Ability to work within a team;

  • Good communication and influencing skills;

  • Good IT skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office package;

  • Ability to deal efficiently with a wide range of external contacts;

  • Ability to deliver results, to maintain own and office databases and to work within allocated budgets;

  • Ability to apply strategic awareness in business planning;

  • Ability to adapt and work under pressure;

  • High level of customer service.

    Job Conditions

  • Full time – Fixed term contract – 3 months’ probation period – Remuneration based on experience
