Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Safeguarding Officer Jobs in Kenya
Responsibilities
Lead safeguarding initiatives across FAWE Kenya programs, ensuring compliance with child protection, gender‑based violence, and vulnerable adult protection standards.
Design and deliver safeguarding training for diverse audiences, including staff, partners, and community stakeholders.
Identify and assess safeguarding risks, implementing mitigation measures and problem‑solving strategies.
Ensure adherence to National Child Protection laws, policies, and frameworks, as well as international safeguarding standards.
Investigate and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
Provide technical guidance and support to program teams on safeguarding integration.
Promote a culture of safeguarding and accountability across the organization.
Prepare safeguarding reports, risk assessments, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications / Work Experience
Academic Bachelor’s Degree in Gender & Development Studies, Anthropology, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
Academic Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
Professional Valid Certificate of Good Conduct (issued within the last 6 months).
Professional Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in safeguarding, child protection, or related roles, preferably in the education or development sector.
Professional Strong knowledge of safeguarding standards and best practices, including child protection, GBV, and
vulnerable adult protection.
Professional Experience in designing and delivering safeguarding training.
Professional Knowledge of National Child Protection laws, policies, and frameworks in Kenya, and international safeguarding standards.
Professional Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to engage individuals at all levels.
Professional Strong organizational and report‑writing skills.
Professional Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and representation skills.
Professional Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in databases and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Professional Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and execution skills, with accountability for results.
