Food For Education Financial Accountant - Cluster Jobs in Kenya; Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant – Cluster plays a critical operational and financial role in financial reporting, managing supply chain costs, inventory integrity, and accounts payable across a designated cluster of kitchens.

This role bridges financial oversight with kitchen operations—ensuring accurate financial reporting, Cost Per Meal (CPM) analysis, strict stock control, timely vendor reconciliations, and compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and IFRS.

Core Responsibilities

1. Operational Analysis & Business Partnering

  • Manage day‑to‑day operations ensuring proper tracking, reconciliation and posting of core costs.

  • Manage inventory including receipt, transfers, consumption, stock take and reconciliation.

  • Compile and generate timely Cost Per Meal (CPM) and accounting reports.

  • Conduct bi‑weekly CPM/CPC review meetings with Kitchen Managers.

  • Provide bi‑weekly CPM updates to Finance leadership.

  • Provide monthly financial and operational reports including reconciliations.

  • Partner with Operations and HRBPs to reconcile and post program salary inputs.

    2. Inventory Oversight & Stock Control

  • Perform daily reviews of inventory movements and grocery documentation.

  • Conduct monthly stock takes, reconcile sub‑ledger to GL accounts, and process adjustments.

  • Obtain signed‑off consumption approvals and post into Sage ERP.

  • Document and
    maintain inventory valuation bases.

    3. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Verify, allocate and post grocery‑related bills and invoices.

  • Perform routine AP reconciliations and follow up on vendor payments.

  • Manage petty transactions, requisitions and audit‑ready filing systems.

    4. Process Improvement & Financial Controls

  • Monitor workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose optimizations.

  • Review accounting systems and policies; recommend updates to GAAP/IFRS standards.

    5. Compliance, Stakeholder Management & Audit

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Lead audit readiness by preparing structured documentation.

  • Perform other ad‑hoc financial and operational duties as assigned.
