Flexi-Personnel Senior In-House Counsel Jobs in Kenya;Lead the Legal function and serve as principal legal advisor to the organization. Oversee and manage all legal affairs, ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and provide strategic guidance to support organizational objectives and operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day legal advice on projects and operations, including renewable energy, procurement, project finance, petroleum, corporate, employment, land, tenancy, environmental, civil, administrative, and carbon market matters.

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements and project contracts (power purchase, project finance, joint venture, licensing, EPC, supply, service, lease, distribution, transportation, etc.).

  • Provide legal support across energy and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance.

  • Support corporate governance and company secretarial matters.

  • Manage legal claims, disputes, settlements, and litigation, including oversight of external counsel.

  • Maintain effective relationships with government authorities, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

  • Advise on compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) legal requirements.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising management on impacts.

    Educational Qualifications & Career Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic performance.

  • Full qualification as a
    Kenyan Advocate of the High Court or equivalent in a common‑law jurisdiction.

  • Minimum 6 years’ post‑qualification experience in corporate legal environment and/or leading law firm.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial and administrative law.

  • Proven experience in projects, oil and gas, energy, renewable energy, or sustainable energy sectors.

  • Strong contract drafting, review, negotiation, and advisory skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in a second language an advantage.

  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
