What is TATARI for Students?

  • TATARI for Students’ is a comprehensive programme specifically designed for students currently enrolled at higher education institutes and TVETs, as well as new graduates who aspire to become entrepreneurs.

  • TATARI seeks to develop students’ aspirations through tailored trainings, mentoring, coaching and saving schemes, as well as enabling students to start their own small business upon graduation.

    Who supports it?

  • TATARI is a BRIDGES Programme initiative which works in collaboration with the Federal Urban Job Creation and Food Security Agency (FeUJCFSA) and Addis Credit and Saving Institution (ADCSI).

  • BRIDGES is a job creation programme supported by the Mastercard Foundation as part of the Young Africa Works strategy, and implemented by First Consult PLC.

  • It envisages supporting the creation of close to 600,000 jobs for young people (80% women) and 15,000 MSMEs, with 300,000 unemployed youth trained through supporting job creation initiatives and market linkages.

    Who is eligible to enroll?

  • Students currently enrolled in higher institutions and TVETs, with at least two years remaining until graduation

  • Current junior and senior year students who have a strong interest in starting their own business

  • New or recent graduates

  • Current students and recent graduates who are committed to opening an account and make regular savings deposits of 300
    Birr/month

  • Current students and recent graduates who are willing to attend training and mentoring sessions

    What is the benefit for students?

  • Becoming a member of this program will help students have a broader focus on future career paths.

  • It will also help aspiring entrepreneurs acquire the required skills, attitudes, and capital to enable them to unleash their great potential for self-employment and job creation.

  • The program has saving, business development services (BDS) support, monetary matching from BRIDGES, and facilitation of access to finance with partnering financial institutions of up to five times the saved plus matched amount.

    When do I get the finance?

  • Attend all trainings and BDS provided by the programme

  • Develop a solid and bankable business plan

  • Make regular savings of 300 Birr/month continuously for 6 months

    How long is the programme?

  • TATARI for Students takes a minimum of 6 months to complete.
