  • Our Client, in agricultural and horticultural operations in East and Southern Africa regions, is looking for a Financial Accountant responsible for day-to-day supervision and coordination of financial and accounting functions in the area of responsibility.

    Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

    Planning

  • Prepare budgets, reports and revised forecasts.

    Staff Management

  • Monitor productivity and effectiveness of all Accounts Department staff.

  • Manage and motivate all staff in the department.

    Monitoring & Controlling

  • Prepare and produce accurate operating statements and review of iScala General Ledger.

  • Monitor and manage iScala processing and closure from one period to another.

  • Ensure General Ledger and Stock Ledger reconciliations are done.

  • Prepare supplementary estimates required at Nairobi office.

  • Manage Lintrack input, reports, integration with iScala and other General Ledger journals, supplier and customer invoices.

  • Review Made Tea Statements.

    Internal Control

  • Control chart of accounts by monitoring access rights in the Accounting system.

    Treasury

  • Review Debtors, Creditors, Treasury reports including bank reconciliations.

  • Review reconciliations and approve before payment.

    Financial Reporting

  • Prepare statutory financial statements and IFRS packs for Group companies.

  • Prepare Management Accounts and support schedules including cash
    flow projections.

    Taxation

  • Collate withholding tax/VAT certificates and ensure that tax support schedules are prepared.

    Statutory Returns

  • Prepare and submit statutory returns and payments.

  • Ensure VAT audits are performed and follow up subsequent refund claims from KRA.

    Liaison

  • Liaise with suppliers, external Auditors and with KRA Officers.

    General

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Carry out any duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

  • CPA-K or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in an accounting environment.

  • Computer proficient.

  • Sound team management skills.
