Responsibilities


  • Strategy & Project Management - (Approx 30%)

    Develop functional goals and priorities for Credit operations which align with the overall Credit strategy for Fenix
    Design, scope out, implement, manage and monitor specific projects and initiatives to improve the effectiveness and/or efficiency of our Credit operations
    Develop and maintain strong business and technology relationships, becoming a trusted partner to all stakeholders
    Tools, Digitization & Automation - (Approx 30%)

    Work to scope, build, implement and maintain tools which digitize or automate key aspects of credit operations and data collection (examples: AppSheet, SurveyCTO).
    Provide input and leadership into the Software development roadmap and strategic business requirements
    Support Country teams in scaling of new tools which are part of the credit ecosystem. Depending on the level of support from Global Software, Global Product or other teams, this may include project planning, management and monitoring or support in specific areas like training or troubleshooting technical, logistical and operational barriers.
    Provide support to Country teams on practical credit operational needs or troubleshooting best supported at the Global level (ex: Commissions calculation)
    Work with Global Software to design and manage how Global and Country-level KPIs, metrics, dashboards, etc. are translated to team-facing views (on interfaces such as FenixGo, Country Wiki pages, etc.)
    Research & Analytics - (Approx 30%)

    Analysis and monitoring of effectiveness and efficiency of loan servicing / credit operations standards (post pilot / experiment stage)
    Integration of external data sources such as GSM product usage data and MTN mobile service user data into insights for Credit operations.
    Conducting ongoing research activities (quantitative & qualitative) and market assessments to inform future strategies
    Preparing and disseminating reports across country and global teams
    Performing data analysis to inform strategic decisions by evaluating past trends and
    current conditions and providing recommendations (Tableau)
    Building dashboards that include both key business metrics and oversight of operational implementation (Tableau)
    Design and implement research projects to increase our insights into our customers and the markets where we work (example: working with Commercial on market segmentation, mapping seasonality of income in each market, creating financial diaries for different customer segments or personas, etc.).
    Processes, Systems & Standards - (Approx 10%)

    Develop and maintain a Credit operations “playbook” of insights, guidelines, internal and external case studies, process workflows, standard operating procedures and cultural values
    Analyze and improve existing standards for credit operations and introduce new standards and best practices (example: creating a blueprint for the “ideal” onboarding process)
    Support the Credit BI & Analytics Manager in documenting and standardizing business rules and definitions for account and loan processes and metrics
    Support development of an environment of internal controls and compliance


    Requirements


  • Masters degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience with 1 or 2 years experience or education in business analysis, project management, or similar, particularly in sectors like retail financial services or telecommunications.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and ability to synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data into practical strategy recommendations. Ideally, this would include experience with tools such as STATA or Tableau, and ability to query databases using MySQL
    Skilled in project management, with an exceptional ability to collaborate, influence, and execute against strategy
  • Exceptional judgement, problem-solving skills, and ability to “Think Big & Make it Happen” both independently and collaboratively
  • Deep empathy for the customer and commitment to inclusivity, consumer protection, & responsible financial services within the context of creating a profitable, scalable enterprise
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications (English)
  • Commitment to live and work with Fenix in East Africa for at least 2 years
