Job Description
Fenix is looking for an experienced, highly motivated and disciplined Global Financial Operations Associate with a passion for entrepreneurship, renewable energy, and financial inclusion as well as relevant experience in financial operations & accounting. This position is a unique leadership role in a fast-paced start up at the front lines of renewable energy and mobile payment technology.
The Global Financial Operations Associate will report directly to the Global Financial Operations Manager as well as collaborate with other directors to manage the Accounting Team and ensure timely and accurate reporting as well as implement processes and controls to ensure best practices and adherence to global accounting standards and tax laws.
Key Responsibilities
Support existing expansion markets
Help to oversee and assist countries with all monthly reporting and analysis
Review completion of financial reconciliations and inventory management
Contribute to setting up financial operations in new markets
Help in hiring talent
Set up finance systems & processes
Put in place monthly reporting & tools to provide insights
Mentor & train Country professionals
Support country operation teams
Assist & monitor inventory deliveries
Provide support to country operations teams with production & inventory tracking
Examine opportunities to increase efficiency, communication & systems between teams
Assist Director of Finance to improve SAP ERP system post roll out by rolling out new modules, reporting and dashboards
Roll out API, ensuring correct data capture between Fenix DB and SAP on a daily basis and creating Tableau reporting to test and validate API
Roll out Materials Planning module in SAP, coordinating closely with the operations team to better
forecast and execute inventory ordering
Roll out Budgeting and Forecasting module in SAP, coordinating closely with country leads and department heads to enable annual team budgeting and forecasting within SAP
Develop and roll out Hana dashboard reporting to take the place of EBITDA reporting via an interactive daily sales/COGS report along with weekly expense estimates
Develop additional custom reporting both in SAP and Tableau to support global and country teams
Participate in global financial reporting activities, including:
Oversee monthly financial reporting including financial reporting for war room, steering committee and ad hoc financial reporting.
Oversee budget and forecast vs. actual reporting, coordinating with global department heads and country teams to assess and respond to differences
Oversee compilation weekly EBITDA tracking tools across all specific new markets
Maintain and improve Fenix Chart of Accounts across all operations
Assist in conducting at least 3 strategic analysis initiatives to help improve Fenix operations, cash flow management, tax & accounting
Required Skills & Experience
B.A or B.S in Accounting or Business
Significant leadership and management experience in operational finance, preferably as a Controller or in Budgeting and Forecasting
Advanced proficiency in accounting software tools
Experience with enterprise resource planning systems
Advanced quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in excel
Ability to manage a multicultural team of financial operations staff
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English), French required
Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature
Attention to detail, strategic thinker
A passion for Fenix and our customers!
Highly Desired Skills
Higher level certifications in accounting or finance
Work experience in a multinational company or financial institution, preferably with operations in Africa
Experience with risk assessment and loan portfolio health evaluation methodologies
Understanding of rural BOP markets, microfinance, mobile telecom and/or renewable energy industries in East Africa
