FCA Emergency Response Project Officer Jobs n Kenya


Primary Purpose

  • The Project Officer will be the focal person for FCA Humanitarian activities aimed at smooth re-opening of schools. The incumbent will implement necessary COVID-19 preventive measures in FCA managed ECD/Primary Schools in Kalobeyei.

    Tasks and Duties

  • Plan for and ensure delivery of capacity building workshops delivered to Radio Listener Groups.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian actors and international stakeholders while promoting FCA priorities and concerns.

  • Act as a Focal point for the emergency response project and manage project related communications, budget and timely reporting.

  • Support school reopening plan and ensure there is high standard of hygeiene and sanitation in all Kalobeyei schools and assess usage of radio lessons.

  • Submit weekly, biweekly and monthly high-quality progress and impact report to the Project Coordinator.

  • Support the communication department in production of impactful stories of change/success stories.

  • Liaise with the Project Coordinator and education actors on daily basis and ensure project is covering all intended participants.

  • Comply with participatory and collaborative approaches when implementing the project, taking into consideration the needs of listeners, feedback, and learning groups.

  • Liaises and coordinate with education project officers, headteachers, teachers and BOM that will support the successful delivery of the project.

  • Participate in program quality evaluations and support the adoption of recommendations.

  • Manage programmatic learning structures to ensure that best practices, lessons learned and challenges are addressed continuously.

  • Coordinating and overseeing COVID-19 prevention measures in Kalobeyei settlements.

  • Develop evidence based thematic briefs and other materials to support the partnership’s
    work in relation to humanitarian contexts.

    Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (such as Public Education, Development Studies, Humanitarian Studies, International Relation, Human Rights, Refugee Rights or Gender Issues) OR proven experience in a related field.

  • Proven training and experience in community mobilization/capacity building skills and implementation.

  • Professional technical experience matching the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities.

  • A minimum of 5 years international humanitarian field experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Kalobeyei refugee operations and Turkana County context.

  • Knowledge of humanitarian guidelines such as Sphere project, Do No Harm, Good Enough guide and Core Humanitarian Standards.
