Family Bank Ltd Category Specialist – Procurement Jobs in Kenya;We are seeking a Category Specialist – Procurement to support Family Bank’s strategic sourcing and category management activities. The postholder will deliver value through cost optimization, supplier performance management, contract governance, risk mitigation and compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring procurement solutions drive operational efficiency and business growth.

Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned to business needs.

  • Conduct market intelligence, supplier analysis and spend assessments.

  • Lead sourcing activities including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, e‑auctions and tenders.

  • Prepare sourcing recommendations and evaluation reports.

  • Support supplier negotiations to secure optimal commercial and service terms.

    Supplier Relationship & Performance Management

  • Manage supplier relationships within assigned categories.

  • Monitor supplier performance against SLAs, KPIs and contracts.

  • Coordinate performance reviews and corrective actions.

  • Support supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Third‑Party Risk & Governance

  • Conduct supplier due diligence and onboarding.

  • Support risk assessments covering financial, operational and ESG factors.

  • Ensure compliance with policies, authority limits and regulations.

  • Maintain complete procurement records and audit trails.

    Contract Management

  • Support contract drafting, review, renewal and closure.

  • Track obligations, expiry dates and milestones.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk and Business Units during negotiations.

    Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with business units to understand procurement needs.

  • Provide advisory support on policy compliance and best practices.

  • Facilitate cross‑functional evaluations and promote procurement excellence.

    Operational Procurement Excellence

  • Process procurement requests and purchase orders per approved plans.

  • Ensure
    accurate and timely procurement reporting.

  • Monitor cycle times and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support implementation of digital procurement initiatives.

    Cost & Value Optimization

  • Identify and track cost savings and value enhancement opportunities.

  • Support annual savings targets and continuous improvement programs.

    Requirements

    Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain or related field.

  • Professional qualification and KISM membership mandatory.

  • CIPS Level 4 or MCIPS certification preferred.

  • Additional certification in Contract, Supplier or Risk Management an advantage.

    Experience

  • Minimum 4 years in procurement or category management.

  • Experience in regulated sectors preferred.

  • Proven success in sourcing, negotiations and contract management.

  • Experience using ERP or e‑Procurement systems.

    Competencies

  • Contract and supplier relationship management.

  • Commercial negotiation and procurement analytics.

  • Regulatory compliance and financial acumen.

  • Integrity, attention to detail and strong stakeholder management.
