Expertise France National Expert (Pre‑Primary to Primary Transition Jobs in Tanzania;We are seeking a National Expert to support Tanzania’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) under the EU‑funded Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA) programme, enhancing students’ smooth transition from pre‑primary to primary education.

Specific Objectives

  • Strengthen pre‑primary teachers’ capacity to implement school readiness activities.

  • Strengthen Standard 1 & 2 teachers’ capacity in play‑based and child‑centered pedagogy.

  • Promote peer learning and harmonization of teaching practices between pre‑primary and Standard 1 & 2 teachers.

    Main Deliverables

  • School readiness activities assessment report.

  • Guidelines on school readiness.

  • Assessment report on existing capacity‑building modules on play‑based pedagogy.

  • Package on play‑based pedagogy for Communities of Learning (CoLs).

  • Module on holistic ECD/early learning.

    Expert’s Profile

    Academic Qualification

  • Advanced degree in Education, Early Childhood Development (ECD), or Early Learning.

    General Work Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in basic education including pre‑primary.

  • Proven track record in developing teacher capacity‑building content.

  • Consultancy experience with government or international organisations.

    Specific Work Experience

  • Sound knowledge and experience in ECD
    and early learning.

  • In‑depth knowledge of play‑based and child‑centered pedagogy.

  • Experience developing school readiness content/programs.

  • Proven skills in participatory workshop facilitation and coordination.

  • Knowledge of Tanzania’s education context, policies, and institutional framework.

    Language Proficiency

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Swahili.

    Soft Skills & Assets

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

  • High adaptability in complex institutional environments.

  • Knowledge of gender‑sensitive and gender‑responsive pedagogy (asset).
