Job Description

Key Performance Areas:


  • Manage the full lifecycle of the projects from receiving projects mandate, hand-over of project deliverables, and completion of the projects to post-project review.

  • Manage the projects by planning, monitoring, controlling, managing and escalating issues, risks and dependencies with the projects and their impact to Retail Expansion.

  • Control/co-ordinate all work, allocating tasks, monitoring progress, ensuring awareness of responsibilities and securing commitment to successful project delivery.

  • Prepare current and accurate forecast of costs, cash-flow, timescales and resource requirements and agree with Programme Manager.

  • Monitor and control the use of resources and funds against budget.

  • Establish and maintain project dashboards, and provide accurate progress reports and updated plans at pre-defined intervals to the relevant stakeholders.

  • Identify and analyse risks and determine mitigation strategies for risks.

  • Convert project statistics and facts into presentable formats.

  • Balance business drivers and project requirements to ensure project success for both the business sponsors and the various project stakeholders.

  • Prepare and document project documentation – ready for sign off.

    Qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills & competencies:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma is essential.

  • Prince2 certification or a Project Management qualification is essential.

  • 5-8 years’ experience in a similar role/environment is essential.

  • 5-8 years’ proven experience in Project Management is essential.

  • 5-8 years’ proven experience in the management of large projects with regard to project team sizes, budget and complexity is essential.

  • 5-8 years’ experience in implementing transformational initiatives across people, process, structure and technology is essential.

  • 3-5 years’ managing projects, preferably within a Retail Banking / Expansion Environment or Retail is essential.

  • 5-8 years’ experience in a complex, matrix corporate environment
    is essential.

  • 3-5 years’ practical knowledge and application of project /programmes management e.g. PRINCE2 and Managing Successful Programmes is essential.

  • Knowledge of project methodologies and principles is essential.

  • 3- 5 years’ proven management experience with responsibility for delivering projects in a structured environment is essential.

  • Knowledge of other Finance/Service Industry best practices (e.g. ITIL) is desirable.

    Qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills & competencies continued:

  • Knowledge of and experience in Business Process Management practices is desirable.

  • Involvement in strategic initiatives from conceptualization to roll out is essential.

  • Understanding of banking practices, products and systems is essential.

  • Good application and working knowledge of project schedule software such as Microsoft Project and MS Visio is essential.

  • MS Office literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook (task management) is essential.

  • High degree of confidentiality and integrity is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player are essential.

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and writing skills in English.

  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

  • A high-energy, creative, self-starter with a can-do attitude.

  • The willingness and ability to adapt to changes in procedures, responsibilities, and assignments.

  • Great attention to detail, accurate, and thorough, regardless of how big or small the task.

  • Analytical thinker and problem solving skills is essential.

  • Process and systems thinking skills are essential.

  • Must be proactive and work autonomously.

  • Multi-task effectively with superior planning and organizational skills.

  • Persuasive with strong negotiation skills.

  • Able to work independently but function cohesively in a team.
