Job Description

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned bellow.

About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia.

ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services.

ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities.

Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 33 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.

Key Performance Areas

  • Plans, implements and reports the overall RFL operations of the branches
  • Knows the allocated budget. Prepares action plan for the activities and implement accordingly
  • Collects, register‘s and delivers incoming Red Cross Messages from branches to the head
    Quarter and forwards Out Going Red Cross Messages from Head Quarter to branches
  • Conducts tracing of missed person in operational areas of the branch;
  • Collects tracing requests to be sought nationally and inter-nationally and forward to HQ
  • Collects' Processes and forwards all relevant tools from beneficiaries to HQ;
  • Implements a national society RFL policy and procedures;
  • Networks with stakeholders who are working in the branch operational areas
  • Distribute RFL tools. Identification materials, stationery and other ‘relevant materials to social is workers/volunteers on time
  • Assesses, Recruits, trains, deploys and coordinates new social workers/volunteers in the camps and in the community;
  • Assesses training needs/gaps, prepares the appropriate trainings, coordinates
    and provides
    A training/refresher courses to social workers/volunteers in cooperation with HQ RFL unit;
  • Identifies RFL awareness gaps in the camp and in the communities and provide tailored
    RFL dissemination training;
  • Makes efforts that upgrade the level and quality of missing families reunification service of the Society:
  • Prepares a standard quarterly, biannual and annual reports of RFL activities of the branch and send to the head quarter following the standard reposing formats by the approval of branch head;
  • Undertakes close monitoring and supervision of RFL work and coaches social
    Workers/volunteers;
  • Insures that incoming and outgoing RFL tools chronologically registered on permanent
    Book at the branch;
  • Follows up the status of Red Cross Messages and handles tracing requests dispatched from the head quarter and respond following the procedure of the national Society;

    To Ethiopian Red Cross Society, Gambela Branch’s Program Division.

    Terms of employment:

    Contract for one year

    Based in One of Refugee Camps Located in Gambela Region

    Job Requirements

    Job Specification

  • First degree in Disaster Risk Management / Management/ Social Work/ Sociology/ socia1 Anthropology/ Social Psychology /Applied Psychology/social science.
  • 2 years of related work experience.
  • Willing to give voluntary service to the society with his/her own initiative.
