Job Description

  • Ethiopian Public Health institute needs to employ in the following positions on contract bases.

  • Joining the COVID-19 response, World Bank and MOH have been supporting emergency response for the Regional and National Emergency operational Centre (EOC) to enhance the impact, reach and efficiency of responses through the integration and coordination of risk communication, Surveillance, case management, mental health, special need, Point of entry, logistics & EOC activities and approaches in strong collaboration with the health team, IM, and under the guidance of EOC each pillar chief.

  • COVID-19 infection and maintaining the continuum of essential services of EOC through strengthening coordination and technical support at the national and regional level by deployment of technical assistance (TA).

  • EPHI will deploy TAs who will be supporting the Federal Ministry of health/Ethiopian Public Health Institute at national level and regional level at region EOC.

  • The TAs also will link with the Regional Health Bureau Country office and regional office staffs, and their respective Regional health bureaus and to regularly update on the regional level response and gaps in the areas of COVID-19, as per assigned and provide information and technical support when necessary.

  • The ultimate goal of Senior Emergency Supply Chain Advisor is to support EPHI’s effort to establish/revitalize the national and regional Emergency Supply Chain technical working groups so that they effectively prepare and respond to COVID19.

    Job description

  • Support EPHI and EPSA on sourcing and procurement of commodities during the COVID-19 response

  • Support the established EOC on timely delivery of COVID-19 supplies from intermediary storage sites (hubs) to treatment and quarantine sites

  • Assess the availability of medical counter measures at established emergency operation centers (EOC) for COVID19 global outbreak at all levels

  • Conduct regional EPHI and EPSA hub managers meeting to familiarize COVID-19 supply chain preparedness and response activities

  • Develop follow-up plans and support national and regional ESC TWGs through site visits and feedbacks

  • Review the national and regional supply chain management preparedness works with different key stakeholders and document lessons learnt for the COVID19

  • Conduct orientation training for the ESC
    TWG and experts for all regions on COVID-19 chain preparedness and response using ESC playbook tools

  • Perform periodic review of COVID-19 preparedness and response related supply chain performance, before, during and after emergencies

  • Support EPSA and EPHI to develop a responsive procurement modality for emergency responses of COVID-19

  • Establish logistics data exchange platform for better visibility as well as to avert stock out and prevent wastage

  • Ensure all storage and transportation requirement of all dry supplies and cold items are maintained up-to the National and International standards to ensure their quality, safety and efficacy are being maintained

  • Provide mentorship for Regions,treatment sites,Isolation sites and testing sites on how to manage COVID-19 Products.

  • Provide technical support for treatment sites on rational use of PPE.

  • Support to regions on how to quantify and distribute PPEs to Zones and Treatment sites.

  • Develop reporting and resupply tools which also helps to take regular inventory from Treatment and Testing sites.

  • Establish logistics data exchange platform for better visibility as well as to avert stock out and prevent wastage

    Job Requirements

    Education Level

  • MSc/MBA in Pharmacy/Logistics supply chain management /Business Administration

    Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years work experience in related field.
